Gigs and Festivals / Vio-lence Dublin Belfast 2026
April 29, 2026, 12:18:04 PM
Back later this year.Anyone see them on the last visit? Worth a goo?

02/08/26 – Dublin, IE – Grand Social
03/08/26 – Belfast, NI – The Limelight

Vio-lence is set to return to the global stage with their Summer 2026 tour, "Eruption of Screams." Kicking off on July 20 in Gdańsk and July 21 in Warsaw, Poland, opening for Biohazard. As a pioneering Bay Area thrash band that emerged in the late 1980s, Vio-lence built a reputation for their aggressive sound and influential releases, helping define the genre's intensity and edge. The tour marks another chapter in the band's legacy as they bring their high-energy performances across Europe, the United Kingdom, Russia and Asia

Is it me or is 48 lids a bit steep to see Little Angels in Opium? Hard to justify for anyone half-thinking of going along. Noticed the same to see Sugar in the Stadium midweek. A snip at c.€70. Clearly I am a tightwad now ...

Nice thread. Gas to see how Maiden bounced back to be massive again. Blaze touring Ireland this week too. Well worth catching live I reckon.

Jack Moore, the son of legendary THIN LIZZY guitarist Gary Moore, will perform his father's music on his first Irish tour next year, marking the 15th anniversary of Gary Moore's passing.

Alongside versatile Polish artist Quentin Kovalsky, Jack Moore will also perform songs from his new album, "Electric Neverland", during shows in Dublin, Derry/L'Derry, Belfast and Westport.

Moore and Kovalsky will appear in The Jester Bar in Westport on February 6, the 15th anniversary of Gary Moore's death. The tour begins in The Sound House in Dublin on February 3 and moves to Sandino's Bar and Cafe in Derry City on February 4, before arriving in Gary Moore's hometown of Belfast on February 5 at The Deer's Head.

Metal Discussion / Radio broadcast vinyl
November 21, 2025, 07:57:01 PM
Seems like there are a ton of live radio broadcast albums now on the market.  Priest, Motörhead, Maiden etc. without the official logos.  Not sure how these albums are now so readily available. Bootlegs on O'Connell Bridge back in the day but now vinyls online, Tower etc. I tend to avoid them expecting shite sound. Anyone pick up a few or able to recommend ones that don't sound like they were recorded in the jax

Gigs and Festivals / Re: Saxon Dublin & Belfast, Nov 2025

Two great bands - felt a bit like a double bill watching UDO - although I'm a fan for years. The band seemed thrilled with the crowd. Enough to come back and headline in Ireland? Venue rammed too. Saxon in top form. Think Biff is sounding the best he has in years.

Deadly thread. Magnum and Nazareth spring to mind.

Interesting thanks. Saw 'Rising' in the TBMC back in 2014 too. They were decent!

Never heard of this crowd but see dates announced for next month in Belfast, Drogheda and Dublin (Opium) more at https://www.rivetskull.com/

Metal Discussion / Re: Couldn't be bothered anymore

Quote from: Mooncat on August 19, 2025, 09:55:22 PMPhew how many 'classic' bands at all still release worthwhile stuff, never mind great? Not a metal example but Bowie managed it with Blackstar, but that seems the exception. I guess Testament still release some decent stuff here and there?

Saxon's later stuff deserves a mention. Its tricky one for bands - criticised for cashing in on constant greatest hits touring or putting out new material - which, lets face it can be pretty average. Classic 80s metal bands aren't going to deviate too far at this stage of the game. I still buy new material from Maiden, Helloween, Saxon, Priest (and KK's Priest), Primal Fear, Scorps etc. Can be hit and miss for sure. Saying that, cds are a lot cheaper now than the 80s so perhaps not the same investment. Wish something could be done to lower vinyl prices though
