Ticket got. Looking forward to it. Is there a bar in the Kino these days? Haven't been there in a long time.

Dead Cult are doing God's work in Cork.

Great documentary. I can't wait to get my hands on the album. Will it be in Bunker Vinyl or MusicZone at all?

I see that The Ambassador at the end of O'Connell Street is going to be used for gigs again. It seemed like I was at a gig there every month during it's peak. Has anyone any good memories/stories? It seemed like it took over from the SFX for gigs.

Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf tour. Lanegan was touring with them. I think it was Oliveri's birthday and he played the gig in the nip.

Velvet Revolver - they were close to breaking up at the time. You could tell Weiland didn't want to be there. The lads pulled up stools for an acoustic version of 'Patience' and he made a point of sitting behind them on the drum riser.

Trivium/God Forbid- an all ages gig. It felt like a crèche. The bar was closed and there was kids running everywhere. Horrific.

Also saw Deftones, Therapy?, Down, and Anthrax there. I remember fuck all.

Quote from: Blankety Blank on August 05, 2024, 01:53:01 PMWatched "Shot Caller" on Netflix. Best film I've seen in a while. A violent prison film crossed with Sons of Anarchy street gang shenanigans.

I watched "Shot Caller" a few weeks ago. Really enjoyable low budget but better than DTV thriller. Apparently Ric Roman Waugh had a test run for this movie 15 years previous with his film "Felon" (haven't seen it but it's also on Netflix) much like Michael Mann with "LA Takedown" and "Heat".

Seeing as you enjoyed "Shot Caller" - I would recommend "Den Of Thieves" to you. A high-end, low budget (by today's standards) heist thriller.

Thanks for that. I'll have a look.

It's funny you mention this. I watched Almost Famous again recently and PSH as Lester Bangs really brings to mind High Fidelity Jack Black, especially the AF deleted scene where he's throwing records around the radio studio. I think both films came out in the same year.

Manson is back touring in the US. A new single just released and a European tour announced for early 2025. It looks like he has bounced back like Rammstein.

Setlist

That were great.

Shuttle bus out and back. Got in for Richard Ashcroft. He played mostly stuff off Urban Hymns, perfect for a nice summer's evening.

Didn't spring for golden circle tickets for Pearl Jam so they were a like ants on the stage. The massive wraparound screens were class though. A nice juicy setlist that brought me back in time. The sound was crystal clear too.

I left for "Setting Sun", thinking they'd close with it. Was half way to the car park when they started into "Alive"  ;D

Bosses and/or customers asking you to do a "quick job" when they have no idea how long the task will take.

"You might just do a quick job for me"

Quote from: Count Magnus on May 01, 2024, 09:27:46 AMAny fans of 'Revival' by King? I picked it up after years of ignoring his output and really enjoyed it. I'd recommend it to any fans of Lovecraftian horror.

Just finished "Fairy Tale" by Stephen King. There's even more Lovecraft in it. Not a bad read though it kind of changes up plots halfway through. I would have liked more exploring of the world.

Just started "The Long Earth" by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter. So far, so good...

Yeah, it's their version of the "golden circle". You'd be lucky to still have your eyebrows by the end of the night.
