Just booked with Clayton Limerick directly. Got a mid term b&b rate for €100 between 2 of us, less €10 for joining their Clayton club, grand job. Booking.com say they have only 4 rooms left if anyone needs to get their skates on.

The old Jury's inn around the corner, now the Limerick City hotel, is €40 pps without breakfast or €50pps with breakfast.

Well looking forward to this!

Be a shame to let negative plane escape limerick with only one gig.

Would also be a shame to pay for a ticket to see them the night before and then see them for free on the Sunday...

Decent prices there. My sister works for the Clayton group, I'll see if I can get a deal through her.

Haven't been to Limerick for around 20 years, as good an excuse as any. Siege is on my birthday, too.

Got my hotel booked but all the trains from Dublin are sold out. First time going but think I saw people organising a bus down other years? Is that still something that happens?

Jesus how are they sold out already?  Don't know about dedicated buses but the green bus is only a tenner either way and goes from Burgh Quay Dublin to Arthur's Quay Limerick.

Won't make this, going to Sinéad O'Connor in Dublin the night after, can't manage both (between work & family stuff). Tempted to push it but I like having a job/roof over my head.

Anyone know of any companies doing later busses back to Cork? Last Bus Eireann is 20:20, and I'm having a shite time getting work off the next day. Would ideally like to drink guilt free for a bit, get to see Tribulation and get a bus back by midnight. I can happily suffer the consequences the next day.

There should be a Limerick to Cork direct train going around 22.30 most Sundays looking at Irish Rail's website but it's being a bit odd for that particular day - slightly later time and no tickets available yet.  Look at it again in a few days and it should let you buy them.  Tickets are decent price booked in advance and there should be no changes.

Ah you'd get a good nine hours of a siege at least!

To be fair the late routes between Limerick & Cork, both ways, are shite.  Plenty of gigs I would have went down and back to in Cork in the last while but the last bus or train back is no later than 21.00 too, so completely unusable.

Good man!

Yeah just a 22:15 now with no tickets available. That'd suit me fine. Seeing Tribulation at Ghost anyway so it won't be too shabby. Most of my post midnight activity at the last Siege involved falling over on the slippy floors upstairs constantly.

Train tickets departing Limerick Colbert station at 22:50 on the night now on sale, for anyone looking to get back to Cork just after midnight. Well happy with that. Hope the train shows up. Seems too good to be true!

I was raging I couldn't get the Monday off but that's my ten and a half hours of Siege sorted.

Aye, creeping on now. I've started my traditional pre Siege homework in work this week.

Mostly looking forward to:

Tribulations
Gealach
Coltsblood
Coscradh
Stonecarver
Dictated
Everest Queen
Bisect
Imrama

Coscradh and Bisect in particular I've not had the pleasure of seeing before, and sound like they'll be absolute carnage. Coscradh are right up my alley. Hopefully I'll catch both before needing to split before midnight. They do seem like the kind of bands they'd bang on towards the end.

Then again Unyielding Love went on early enough in the evening back in Easter, and I'd hold them up as the previous Siege's "we're all standing here to see something really mental" act.

Bisect are a fantastic live band.
Seriously underrated, IMO.

Stonecarver aren't playing. They packed it in a couple weeks ago. Flashpoint replaced them.

Looking forward to Vircolac, Organ Blender and Psykosis now as well. Psykosis seem like proper Municipal Waste esque pit bait, and I do like at least one band on the day with a fair bit of shoving.

Can't wait for this.

The surprise was that there was no surprise act

Got there during Possessions set, wasn't familiar with them previously but enjoyed them. Should've gone for good during Head of the Demon, not my cup of tea at all. Malthusian gave it absolute socks and the wall of sound was immense but unfortunately that same wall of sound made it very hard to decipher any riffs and I couldn't hear 2 of the vocalists. Pity as the sound on record is so nasty. Negative Plane were savage, nuff said!

What's the chances of the church being used for more gigs? Something properly metal about having a short stroll through a graveyard in the dark to get into the gig  :abbath:

I thought the sound was great for the first half of the set, then BAM, let's turn the bass all the way up so it's just a constant drone and causing vibrations everywhere. Sounded awful.

Was up in the balcony for them and didn't think it was too bad, guitars could've been a bit clearer alright. Really enjoyed their set all the same and I think they'll go down really well at 3 Arena with Ghost. Just a pity the stuff off The Horror doesn't get a look in.

Dolans was heaving and there must be some awful sick heads about today looking at the amount of drink flowing

Something must have blown during Tribulation's set cause it totally fucked up Dictated's sound as well.
The bass was literally shaking through the whole back wall of the Warehouse.

Upstairs was constantly rammed, alright. Was very annoying trying to get up to see bands. But the side stairs from the main bar was handy for this.

Tribulation took ages getting set up and then couldn't hear lead guitar so Strange Gateways Beckon which should have been a great opener  sounded rubbish. Mix was way too loud with no clarity. Lasted 2 songs and had enough.
Coltsblood were ferocious. Saw them before but never as heavy as Sunday. Monstrous stuff

Sound was terrible for most bands I thought. Too bass heavy by far, I couls feel my clothes and hair vibratingfar too much, anyone withour ear plugs took serious damage.

Coltsblood were excellent but strange there was such a small crowd for them. I guess it was too intense. I hadnt familiar with them until just before the gig so they were a nice find.

Great catching up with folk from around the country. Crispo's bathtub of home brew story will haunt me to my grave!

Anyone without plugs is taking serious damage at ANY metal gig, not to mind a sustained day of it like the Siege. You can't pin that one on venues.

Caught bits of  Bisect, Shardborne, Gealach, Incessent, Coscradh, Ilenkus,  Aponym, Electricals, Coltsblood,  Brigantia, Tribualtion, Okus and Everest Queen and enjoyed the hell out of every band I saw. Just an awesome line up. Regards sound if its bad I just go right up the front (have earplugs) so to me everything sounded grand.

The mixes on stage are different to the one which the crowd hears. A band performing on a stage has no idea what it sounds like out front.

Well that was heavy in all ways.

Something about the tone of the bands and the ridiculous numbers made it feel a lot more 'serious' than the last Siege, which isn't necessarily my usual energy (we jet off to Download every year literally for the sheer Kerrangness of it), but it was a fantastic day out nonetheless.

Something about Tribulation's manner on stage would seem to suggest they were certainly aware of the muddied mix, although I must admit I didn't pick up on that too much down the front, and enjoyed it a lot.

Gealach stole it for me, though. Brilliantly authentic lo-fi sound without being too pastiche. The crowd were in adulation for them in between every song. Brilliant time. Bisect were also great. Bouncers had to reign the moshing in a wee bit because there was kids around their set. They done a bang up job as usual, in fairness.

We went for the podcast upstairs, too. Lovely respite, and gave the day a sense of mythos and culture.

Lads the downstairs smoking area has been closed in Dolans for nearly a full year at this stage. It's not something we have ANY control over. It's the HSE who make those decisions. It was closed at the last Siege also, as well as every other show that has happened in the venue since December.

Personally I was very happy with the job done by the sound crew. I also played in 2 bands and the onstage sound was fantastic.

Bass player in Tribulation turned our amp to pretty much full on stage. Takes it out of the sound engineer's hands at that point and surely contributed to what you lads are describing.

Dosn't seem like it.

I've been to siege at least once a year over the past 5-6 years and that's the most packed I've seen it. It really is the best town for metal in the country by a mile.
