Said I'd post this here if anyone is interested. I've slowly put together an EP, "Bell Nails", over the course of the year. It is done since the weekend and online today. If you like a bit of odd electronic/industrial/metal/rock, you might enjoy this. Synth and Drum Machine heavy, layers of guitars and noise, a few samples, all DIY, mostly stuck together in my house. It's up for free download at bandcamp at the link below. All feedback appreciated. Cheers for checking it out!

Don't know what to put in as FFO, but it is inspired by the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Faith No More, Devin Townsend, Foetus, Killing Joke, Ulver, Type O, and one very particular bit of Green Velvet.

Just listened to Lucid Heart there man and I'm mightily impressed.
I'll give the EP a good listen to later at home.

Very cool, John. Nice mix of heavy guitars and synthy stuff. Vox are cool too.

Thanks! Putting both the Microfreak and Drumbrute to good use for this one.
Yeah it's really cool. I can hear a bit of GGFH and Lycia in there which is right up my alley.

Thanks! I have a fondness for that sort of industrial alright lol
Spiral reminds me of Akercocke or maybe more like Voices actually. Well the first half of it anyway, and the second half a bit as well now it's on here

I've released another EP of my own stuff today - if you enjoyed the last one, you might like this, though it's a little different. These are some tracks from the writing and recording of the last EP, Bell Nails, that didn't make the cut, mostly from being too varied/different to the five that got on there. These are left as instrumentals, released to finish them off, and vary from electronic rock, to rave, to drone. It's not metal. It's up for free as usual, so download away, Feedback appreciated. Cheers!
Said I'd resurrect this for another quick little recording I put together over the last few weeks.

Just meself, guitar and drum machine. Slow and heavy, purposefully stripped back. Gave it another name to do more in this vein or noisier, ultimately (with stuff as ochoill being things I will never actually play live lol).
Cheers for listening.
Listening to "Cardinal Points"
'Galathea' is layered nicely
'Challenger' has a nice menacing feel to it; fairly warped in parts, especially with the guitar jangling & change in the bass line
'Mariana' meanders a bit aimlessly, even if trying to be a bit soundtracky. I do like the droning at the end though 8)
Nílim starts off great with 'Unending Ground'
The vocals suit it too
Would be immense live
There's a nice 'Earth' feel to some of the chord progressions (are you a fan?)
Almost cinematic in parts
Really cool track sir
The transition into 'Weighted' is great
Nice doomy/noisy riffing
Would be great to hear this slowed down more, with a full-on/filthy sound
Screaming vocals in the 2nd half would 'lift' it nicely
Great work!
Really enjoyed it
The price of a can fired over to you there (I know, big spender)
Sound, cheers for giving it a spin, glad you enjoyed them!
I forgot about Cardinal Points lol, something I did with one of my brothers basically over two improv sessions one weekend. Always meant to do more, we just fucked off somewhere with a table of synths and hit record for most of it.
Nílim is really good. I like it.

Quote from: Emphyrio on April 16, 2025, 10:56:40 AMYa, it's very good. What did you use for drums, sham?
Cheers! It's MT Power Kit. Great little VST.
I have it set so each piece goes out to a different channel in the DAW for more processing, so I can limit the fuck out of everything and distort the snare etc. Going for a very hard hitting machine sound. In general though you get a decent real kit sound out of it too, it's versatile, worth a look in.
Ya, that's the yoke I use too, but wouldn't have the wherewithal to set it up all fancy like you
For that kinda craic I put the drumbrute through a pedalboard.

You'll be delighted to know I use the drumbrute as a controller when I am writing too, I just run MT using the pads on it over MIDI. Great piece of gear.
Now you've entered the realm of gobbledegook  I thought I was being fancy putting a drum machine through FX!

Couple of spins of the Nílim EP there today while working. Great stuff to compliment the last few days where I've mainly been listening to Neurosis and Godflesh.

Cheers, ah I dunno I still think anything I do has a hard time topping that Antihuman CDR that had nine separate versions of "The Rabbit" on it.
Chuffed to see it turn up on a List of new releases (https://metalstorm.net/pub/article.php?article_id=2594) over on Metalstorm, I did no promo for it beyond posting here and my Instagram so it is nice to see people coming across it themselves and enjoying it too.
The only thing missing from that CDR was another couple of versions of the same tune and it would have been perfect
I'll have some new Nílim stuff up towards the end of next month, I am just finishing it off next week-ish.
It'll be digital Bandcamp only again at the minute. I am slowly posting bollocks about recording it and disintegrating pictures here, should anyone fancy a look while waiting for actual music: nilim.neocities.org

This is actually class
Deaadly, both musically and aesthetically. I may need to jump on the neocities bandwagon myself as a way out of having an Otterans social media thing!
That is a lovely website. Nostalgic but at the same time original, love it.
Agreed, lovely old school website. Very appealing.
I was planning to check out the music a little later, but after reading your signal path in the notes section I had to jump in right away. Was just as filthy as I was hoping. Some heft!
Hell yeah, looking forward to that.
That site is seriously making me consider putting some effort into one also, as a counter-slop measure
Very well put together and looks really good. I might have to try leave my luddite ways. Til it becomes too difficult, obviously.
Cheers lads, wanted to do something to house it that wasn't social media and pretty much punished myself through the most ragged html learning until it looked like that  it's nice to have something malleable to fit the theme and work as a hub for it.
Quote from: Yung Led Zeppelin on October 30, 2025, 06:49:19 PM...a counter-slop measure
All of Neocities itself is anti-slop, it's great and I recommend browsing the whole thing, there is the maddest shit on there and loads of very niche and themed sites.

Cheers! The two recorded tracks up are actually missing the whole bass cab side of that but the current recordings/mix with the new mic layout and chain shown on the site are sounding better at the minute.
But yeah I will get off my hole now this week and get it finished up

Re. Slint - I know Spiderland and like it yup but surprisingly don't have it on a lot. Went years without hearing to a note of them and only gave it a go there about four of five years back, oddly enough. If I ripped it off it wasn't on purpose

Glad it made it to you before Christmas! Also the prints were basically a lottery I have no idea what ones each person got, I labelled the envelopes with the shirt sizes only and shuffled everything afterward! That Doors one was a photo from the side of a church in Nesebar, Bulgaria. (I wonder if this (https://maps.app.goo.gl/6ktRv1quBqj5yh8h8?g_st=ac) works). Edited to death obviously enough. There's a little hand drawing buried in the bricks on each of those Doors ones too.

Also added to the Partholón / The Grey (https://forum.metalwarfare.com/index.php?topic=3391.0) shows in Cork and Limerick in March, if anyone fancies a look at me sweating and vibrating live.
