I tried Ben Frost when he was mentioned back on the old forum and I liked the idea of what he was doing but didn't really love it. I might give it a go again though as I have become a lot more patient in my listening habits over the last couple of years.
Recently bought a new copy of Moby's Animal Rights album and the bonus disc Little Idiot is brilliant. I'd recommend it to anyone into ambient things. Got the free download of the new NIN as well, the first disc is great instrumental dark ambient stuff. I found the second disc a bit boring as it's all piano stuff and reminds me of minecraft music.
Also been listening to Deadmau5' Random Album Title a good bit lately which is a great album and only seems to have improved with time. He got progressively more poppy after that and it was diminishing returns for me with each subsequent album.
Thom Yorke's Anima is another one. Really great stuff I prefer it to anything by Radiohead. It has much more of a beat to it.
And lastly I picked up a copy of Music For The Jilted Generation for fuck all a couple of weeks ago, and going back to it now after years it is brilliant.
I don't know if any of that is the sort of electronica the thread is designed for or if it's more for the club stuff but I do listen to a lot of electronic based stuff of all types.
Listening to a lot of Ruairi O'Baoighill lately, dark ambient stuff from Loughrea. Decent, picked up a pile of CDs there last week.

Strangely, yes. Last release was 2 Light 2 Dark ep this year. Haven't heard it yet though, tbh I haven't listened to them since giving up a career in munching disco biscuits.

Seen this Golgotha fella promoted over on The Metal Cell this week.
https://golgothalair.wixsite.com/home
Metal styled tunes, but no guitars or drums as such.
So not metal, in my book.
I don't really get most of the dark wave, synth, dungeon synth, electronica, ambient, noise stuff doing the rounds. But I certainly can gravitate to some outfits who actually use some proper instruments.
GOURD and Fós being a couple of local ones.
But this Golgotha fella does nothing for me.
The description made me curious, but the tunes were bad.
I'm not against fully synthesised music at all though.
Anyone here listen to Alessandro Cortini at all? He has a lot of beautiful, sort of minimal sounding stuff. He has a new one out with Daniel Avery (Who I know nothing of) and it's also nice

Nice. Sounds cool.
Been getting into electronic music production as a hobby since before Christmas, myself. Hope youse don't mind if I plug my own shit!
I've finally gotten around to taking some choice cuts from my first half a year of production and slapping together a full length release. Self isolation, and all that. Considering I'm just doing it as a hobby when I'm not working, I'm quite proud of it. It's basically a psyched out house/trance sound with a few downtempo and ambient elements thrown in. Admittedly I'm going to focus more squarely on a particular style for the next project - this has all the hallmarks of finding your feet and seeing what works - but I'm happy out with it and the nerd in me always just wanted to put together an LP of my own for shits and giggles:
https://acidlovestar.bandcamp.com/
All opinions welcome.
That's not bad. Out of curiousity, what programme(s) did you use?
I used to make choons with my music teacher in 5th year on Cubase/Cakewalk, very user friendly and some of it came out alright. Granted, that was 20 years ago. I don't know why I never did more. Went the way of the hurling I suppose (sure look, he got a taste for the beer, always the way). Cheers Da.
I listened to all of that bar track 1 yesterday and it was grand. I preferred the up tempo ones but I didn't recoil from any of it

Thanks for this.
I definitely have a lot to improve on, and I probably could have relented on putting stuff out for awhile, but I was quite fond of these tracks and wanted to move on to something else rather than sit about trying to remix them into encumbrance. It's definitely a bit on the naive side, but since it's a hobby fuck it.
I'm a fucking nightmare with attention span, as well. Not a fan of sitting in front of the screen painting in melodies, constructing a tune that way etc so everything's just more or less played live from two synths straight into the sequencer from a bunch of sounds and patterns I have set up, mixed in and out on top of each other etc.
Had a bunch of software synths on my various laptops for years and never done much with them other than occasionally open them up, press a key and go "ha, that's the Tiesto sound." Give me hardware any day. Plenty of knobs to fiddle with .
Here's a Psytrance Festival I go to called Ozora Festival. It's about 2 hours south of Budapest.

Gamardah Fungus from Ukraine....
Never sure if they're ambling down an open road, or slicing the world down at the seam, Ukrainian duo Gamardah Fungus is caught in the aural crossfire of Sunn O))) and Ry Cooder. NATURAL STORM is an album of disparate elements, whether it's air and water, or sinister drone patches and pitch-bending psych. Thickets of modular synth and knotty guitars thrash like riptides, while grizzled and distorted notes whip you up into the eye of a storm.

That band is one of the finds of 2020 for me, nice one :) Very useful one the gym or running when feel gassed and 'not being a soyboy fanny' isn't enough to plough on :)
It's one guy. He's from Skopje, North Macedonia.
He has released 4 albums between 2015 & 2019 and a shitload of singles too.
All up on Spotify and YT, etc....
It's sledgehammer music alright and I'm hoping for another couple of physical releases from Iboga Records of his albums. Especially last year's Artifact.
Some great bands from Skopje (admittedly different genres) like Mizar and Leb i Sol, seems a hotbed.
Check out yon 'konstantinopol' by Mizar, cool mixture of dark wave, Byzantine chanting and a touch of the Macedonian folk.
Ya I've been blasting Artifact for a while based on a link you posted. Class.

You might like this too, it's along similar lines. More of a Brian Eno feel to it with shoegazy/ethereal vocals. Reminds me of the score to the slo-mo scenes in Dredd. There's a link to their Bandcamp page in the notes:

That was cool! I enjoyed the atmosphere and vibe of it. Must get a whammy pedal myself, there's so much potential with it. I like how it sounds electronic but is still also obviously a guitar, which is something I'm hoping to achieve in future releases too.

Sound for trying it out! Obviously it's very niche stuff and was done with a very particular idea in mind so won't be any use to a lot of people. The whole idea of it was to try recreate the general sideways feeling of hallucinogenics rather than any real effort to make songs or tunes out of it. There is some guitar on there, but a lot less than it seems like. 90% of it is warped samples and almost every sound is manipulated with delay being the only effect used. I tried to make the "tunes" (if they could be called that) sound like they don't really change at all but by the end they would be pretty different to the beginning. If I end up doing any more I'll lash them in here to this thread but the main purpose is to scratch an itch more than getting anyone to listen to it or promoting it in any way whatsoever.
In that spirit, a fella threw on a Plastikman album "Consumed" this evening for me and it was class. Very understated but really good stuff all the way through. First time I've ever heard Plastikman but I will certainly try a bit more after that.

Man that 80's video game synth that's floating along from the 15 second mark to the 5 minute mark totally killed it unfortunately. It only got dark minimal at the 5 minute mark and then unfortunately the tune tapered off again to fade out. Another minute or so added to The Dark Progression would have actually helped to be honest. To bring it further on, if that makes sense?
There's a talent in you for this alright and in fairness, it's not easy, or everyone would be at it.
You're getting there though, and can I ask? Could you remake the tune minus that floating synth?
Because there's a good track there that just needs tweaking. Well done.....

I know what you mean about the synth. It's probably too cinematic for something of this nature, and probably a bit high in the mix. Takes this kinda feedback to realise though!
Even the same melody but with a more low key sound would probably work. Might have another go at it...
Sounds cool man. I like the cinematic feel to it, kinda prefer that to a more "standard" song when it comes to this kinda stuff.

Here's Flucturion 2.0 - Phex..... A Russian producer/DJ.....
He has used a synth loop here but it's got more a church/bombastic type feel to it.
It's basically a progressive track but he's managed to produce a nice dark undertone to the track. And even though he's used plenty of glitter throughout the song, the darkness of the synth adds to the brooding mood.
Of course you could be making this music just for yourself and whatever suits your own musical taste buds. I was just reacting to the dark minimal tag you'd given The Dark Progression...
If I may add too, but if you're going to release something in this vein further down the pipeline.
I recommend that you release an EP of 4 or 5 tracks and hone all your ideas into that 30 or so minutes of music. Much better that way, I think.
Looking forward to hearing more man....

It's absolutely class. I strictly keep it for festivals though.
One of THE best DJs around at the moment playing inside Tower Bridge a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely fucking class and highly recommended if you haven't heard of him. Serious mastery over them decks and a great selector (mixes a lot of techno, jungle and DnB with more tribal sounding rhythms and tracks). His original stuff is great too.

It's a festival everytime so there's the loophole. One of my absolute favourite things in life.
Why would you take it at a festival? Yokes surely.

Haha. Took note of his tune, Glasgow to Detroit, actually. Great name and tune.
Nice one. That EP is savage. Nice glitchy moments throughout, sorta like Ben Frost at times..
EDIT: Now onto a soundcloud mix. Whopper.
I know 3 unreplied to (4 with the edit) posts is lacking forum etiquette but fuck me, these two mixes are out of this world. Lost for words. I love this cunt.
