How are people finding shipping times at the moment? Ordered from two bands back on the 15th May. One is sitting in a regional facility in California for three weeks, the other is "in transit from Dublin Airport to destination" since the 27th
A few delays but nothing major. A two month or so wait for an LP and t-shirt from Norway. I can live with it under the circumstances.
It's up and down. I ordered 3 CDs on Ebay on Sunday night, the first of them arrived today. Similarly, I ordered some from both Ebay and Amazon last Tuesday, they came yesterday and today. On the other hand, I bought one from a lad in Australia on the 12th of April and there's still no sign of it - I contacted him when there was no sign of it after 4 weeks (I'd usually give it 3 weeks coming from Oz, though I've had things arrive in 6 days in the past), he reckoned that there was no post in or out by airmail, everything was going by boat which could take between 8 and 10 weeks, so I'll hold on for another week or so.
Generally, studf is taking a few days longer than usual but getting here eventually.
Yeah, suppose I just got used to stuff arriving in a week or two, had to cutback on the purchases since lockdown so was looking forward to finally getting some new bits

I see Spaceslug and Weedpecker on that list, class bands. The name Weedpecker put me off them for ages but they're just very lush stoner/psych stuff, their album III is deadly. Spaceslug are a bit more straightforward but still have some excellent songs.
Occlith might be more interesting if they didn't employ the exact same recording techniques and tones as every single doom death band these days. I suspected I knew what it would sound like before listening and I was completely right. Doom needs a toe up the hole, I think. Where's the weird interesting stuff?

Anyone else notice some mad digital prices on bandcamp? e.g. €999.99 here
https://scalpture.bandcamp.com/album/eisenzeit
The pre-release for Undeath was €100 for ages.
Some folk charging €5 for one short song release.
You'd have to wonder are there some idiots out there to make this worthwhile?
On the other end of the scale the name your price option starting at zero can totally rip the seller off. You see some people with collections of thousands on bc and it you'd imagine they're surely abusing this loophole paying the lowest possible.
Personally if something floats my boat then you'd surely pay at least €7 for a digital album (ie along the lines of most label prices). Say someone who seriously puts effort into something (e.g. Xoth) could be wide open for abuse based on their pricing model.
Maybe one for some musicians here - do people take the piss when you give them the option of name your price? I reckon if someone pays nothing to download, or €1 to have in their collection, then they're not really interested in hearing your band anyway. so you're not even benefitting from spreading your name and the apparent promotion. Difficult one to call right I reckon, just curious how the various models work from a consumer and seller point of view.
Having said all that, cart ready to go tomorrow when bc don't get their slice! Some revenue they're foregoing each time in fairness to them.
The €999 thing I've seen a few times, it's usually because they don't want to release it digitally at all and want to push the physical release.

Stumbled across this the other day.
Deadly stuff.
Aye, it's good. Went to buy the CD from their label's Bandcamp page there, shipping is set at ~€84! I'm guessing that that's an error.
Couldn't believe that shipping price, so checked myself and it's only €5.90
I went back to it myself and it was around €16. This was from Redefining Darkness (U.S. based), for the CD, are you looking at the tape?
Edit: I tell a lie, that price is still there, but for the vinyl, but it's set at that for anything from that label (Gilead).
I fecked up too...
My phone had the country set to US :P
It's showing up as €84 to Ireland from Gilead Media, alright.
But CD from Redefining Darkness is only €5.
Yeah, it's a fiver for me now too. Weird.

Yeah I'm a sucker for stuff in this style where they mix in a few good highs and shrieks, no matter how crude they are, as opposed to strictly harsh vocals.

Found these the other night, chaotic proto black metal-y stuff. Good shit and the LP is a measly 12 quid including the shipping to Ireland! Well worth checking out.
https://edgedcircleproductions.bandcamp.com/album/psychodelic-horror
Some great stuff on Edged Circle like Reptilian and Inculter. Ordering Demoniac today, so will have to check this out while I'm at it, thanks.
Edit: couldn't recommend Reptilian enough. They opened Killtown in 2018 and were the best band of the weekend which is no small feat.
Fuck didn't realise Inculter was on that label, I shoulda had a look at what else was on there, still with that shipping price I'll order again.

Woa, just took a punt at Demoniac tonight and loving this:
https://edgedcircleproductions.bandcamp.com/album/so-it-goes
Hard to believe it's just released in 2021, it's got that nice early era Sepultura and Kreator drum sound, but well varied with songs ranging from 4 to 20 minutes. Lead riffs to burn, and clarinet sections?! Picking this up on bandcamp Friday for sure 🤘🏻
This is great... :abbath: :abbath: :abbath:

My card is going to take a hit tomorrow, judging by my Bandcamp wishlist.
I batters mine so much last week the bank called to ask if it had been stolen.
I've been holding off on a few things for the whole Bandcamp Friday thing (why not, sure?) but you don't feel them building up. I try to ration it from month to month but the postage fucks you rightly.
Postage is a right turn off with a lot of things unfortunately. Pay €15-€20 to ship a tape / CD / LP, or clear another 2 or 3 items from my wishlist for the same price? No brainer usually for me.
But sometimes digital costs are high and practically the same for physical copies even after postage so not always bad.
Eventually got around to getting Undeath "Lesions of a different kind" CD tonight, riffs galore. the LP variants were very tempting all along but couldn't justify €37 for one, and didn't come across it on mail orders.
https://undeath.bandcamp.com/album/lesions-of-a-different-kind
Woods of Ypres and Corr Mhona on the way as well in due course.
I hadn't been able to source Funebrarum "Sleep of Morbid Dreams" or Mortuous "Through Wilderness" so relented and got digital copies after being on the wishlist for far too long.
A few other bits n bobs as well, but they're my main ones. No call yet from the bank about suspected fradulent activity, but then they failed to tell me previously when they just put a hold on my card and I couldn't figure why it wasn't working! >:(
There's a day left in this offer from Edged Circle Productions:
30% SALE ON ENTIRE BANDCAMP STORE:
Thats right, we give you a whopping 30% discount on ALL items for 2 days (!!). This also includes 20 copies of the Demoniac LP, which we just added! Enter code 30sale at checkout. Remember postage is CHEAP worldwide!
In other news, Demoniac LPs are now on its way to us finally from the factory in Poland. We will ship out all orders immediately when they arrive. This goes also for the Inculter and Asagraum Pic Discs, which will be here in about 2 weeks.

Nice one. I checked out a few I hadn't heard and I picked up Reversed tonight. For some reason the cover threw me off previously, like it's not that I don't have any crap artwork in my collection! Colour scheme reminded me of Agressor and that era, so really don't know why. Maybe it was the name. Anyway over my strange phobia now :-[

Opposite end of the scale, as per the link address. I had bought it digitally originally but had to buy again to get the double vinyl while waiting on some other items from Transcending Obscurity. Hits the spot nicely when chilling out.

That'd madder than I thought, I hadn't even made the link to when it was written and recorded.
And that's crazy he's working with a Galway band to boot. Never heard of them, looks like the recording is out on tape but there's no option to buy phyiscal on bandcamp. I must give it a listen...

Just getting to the end of Supporting Caste here. First of theirs I ever heard and haven't thrown it on in ages. Still a lot of their catalogue I don't know. Your pick?
I listened to a bit of Matt Heafy and Ihsahn's new black metal project earlier. I made it to the second round of the chorus just out of curiosity because my ears couldn't quite grasp what I was hearing. Think of what a Matt Heafy black metal project might be like. It's like that. Only worse.

yeah thats sweet. right on the money. class drum sound. guitar playing is ace.
Just came across this Canad8an DM via a Facebook ad:
Glutted Swarm: ...Of Old.
Obituary's guitar tone on Massacre-esque riffs and solos, vocals different to both. Not bad at all.
