I'll check out the recommendations, thanks lads!

Ended up ordering the Phase 90 this morning, can't wait to have a play around with it.

Not sure if this is on topic - I'll say that it is for now.

I need to buy a delay pedal for my board. I don't use digital pedal boxes but my current delay comes from a Korg multi effects unit that I hate.

All signs seem to point towards the MXR Carbon Copy. Or it's bigger brother, the Carbon Copy Deluxe. Any one have thoughts on these (or other pedals?). Is the Deluxe worth the extra €100?

Do you need tap tempo? That's the major difference between them. I like my regular Carbon Copy but also have a DD3 for straighter/brighter repeats. The CC can be quite dark so worth comparing with the bright version and see which will suit you better.

Thanks for that, Moose. The Deluxe has a bright option along with the original dark pedal sound built into it also and you can toggle between them. The tap-tempo bit is something that I'd have to learn how to use.

Niall in Rocket swears by tap and found it handy enough to get used to. Nothing I have has tap but I only use big long delays on synths so doesn't really matter for my use.

2 visits to the dentists in the past 10 days and handing over nigh on €400, not covered under my PRSI or insurance, has kicked my pedal fund square in the bollocks.

I've had to settle for a budget option - TC Electronic Echobrain - an analog pedal. It was only €45 new. It's not a pedal that I have tried out before but I've been told by  three lads who own/owned them that it's pretty decent for the money.

Only know the battlehammer as 2 guitarists I play with in different bands have them. Both sound a bit different due to their preference and they both sound fucking amazing. A beast of a pedal.

TC stuff is essentially Behringer so you can't go wrong at the price point.

Cheers for the kind words on the Battlehammer.

Finally got around to picking myself up a Battlehammer from Moose.

I have nothing but good things to add to what has already been said.

HEFT, attack and smooth creamy goodness all in equal measure. I have rarely used the Russian Pi Big Muff in my chain since getting the Battlehammer.

Just logged in to shill me new record but thought I'd have a look here too. Nice one! Also I'm nicking your first line there.

Finally picked up a Battlehammer today. Savage yoke altogether ! Have a feeling it won't be my last Moose pedal.

Sterling work my friend. I've had several rat based pedals over the years, but none of them really gelled with my amp properly. The eq on the Battlehammer is very flexible. Sounds fucking awesome, and stacks really well with pretty much everything !

Know this thread is about dirt but I'm looking for some lived in experiences of chorus pedals. Figured I'd ask here rather than start another thread. Up until now I've just used chorus features from other pedals, but it has started to take enough of a precedence in my sound that I'd like to buy a dedicated one as dedicated are always better than multi-fx versions. I'm fine with a multi-fx one for live, but for studio stuff I'd like the real deal.

Boss CE-2W seems to sound really lovely, but has very limited scope for tweaking. No mix or blend knob for one. Walrus Audio Julia seems like it sounds good and has the features I need, though I hear it's noisy, and the core chorus tone isn't quite as good as the Boss. Mainly using it for cleans (arpeggiated stuff, plus strumming) and probably for some bass as well. Would like it if it could take dirt well, but that's not a priority as much, just planning ahead in case that becomes an important use. I do like the idea of a mix or blend knob so that I can choose between clarity or syrupy.

Any chorus pedals that have blown you away?

It won't be cheap to find nowadays I'd say but I had an old Ibanez DCF10 chorus/flanger I used on the Vircolac stuff that was great.
Had a Mr. Black double chorus I really liked for a while, was a big part of my sound for a band I was in at the time.

More recently I've used the chorus setting on a Whammy and really liked the sound from it, ive used it for that more than the actual "regular" whammy/pitch functions actually. I don't have a standalone chorus anymore but I'll pick one up eventually. Very much trying to keep the board small for gigging nowadays.

The one I really couldn't gel with was the Earthquaker Sea Machine..maybe I just got a bad one but I found it very thin sounding and a bit of a pain in the arse to dial in. You can't go wrong with a Boss OR EHX though

In my experience chorus before dirt is the way to go, but like everything else it's personal taste.
