Occasional highlights but yeah, he's like Pearl Jam in that it all blends into one for the morst part.

Nebraska is fucking class though.

Nebraska is where it's at with him indeed
Watched a BBC doc about it one evening and had to check it out and lo and behold it was excellent. Very bleak but excellent.

He can fuck off with the rest pretty much

The Ghost Of Tom Joad is along similar lines, acoustic and stripped down. Not as good but worth a spin, as is Devils And Dust (another acoustic one).

I dunno I nearly reckon I wouldn't want to ruin the one good one by listening to any more of it. That one as it is, is perfect. Who was it did the cover of that Tom Joad tune? Didn't know it had any connection until now

RATM had a cover of the title track, I haven't heard it.

Only know the RATM version and it's great.

One of the best tracks on Renegades. Might actually stick on Renegades now, always dug the hell out of it back in the day.

QuoteBruce Springsteen..I just don't see what the fuss is about...I'm not saying he's shite...I just don't get the fanboy adoration he gets....

Yep, bog standard average bar rock. Not like he has a whopper personality or much charisma either.

Still dig the hell out of it, turns out!

It's so underrated, most tracks on it are class! Absolutely love that heavy swinging groove from Housin'. How I Could Just Kill a Man is awesome too.

He has the odd track I enjoy, but yeah, for the most part I agree. And he plays that shit for 3 or 4 hours, which would be interminable.

One thing that always annoyed me - aside from that strained constipated vocal style, and all of that awful self mythologizing and trying to make the mundane sound epic - is on his early stuff where he had far too many words and syllables shoehorned into a lot of his tunes. His songs overall could have done with some serious editing actually. For someone who apparently loves classic rock'n'roll, he missed one thing they all embraced  - Brevity.

So much of his stuff is the most tedious kind of self indulgence. Well, this side of Phish, Blues Traveler and the fucking Grateful Dead.

I want to push Van Morrison off a cliff.

He'd make a nice soft landing for Alanis Morisette.

Do you ever catch a glimpse of your elbows and think, fuck, my elbow skin looks like an elephant's hundred year old scrotum; might be time to revise my moisturizing regime.
