Just a quick one on the site name.

I like Metal Warfare.
There's more than enough 'Irish' named sites on the go, I think.
The former Metal Ireland...
Metal Radio Ireland...
Burning Metal Ireland...
And my own Irish Metal Archive included.

There's even a shitload of them on Facebook and YouTube.

I've even been toying with completely rebranding myself.

You sir...

The content on the front page needs to be updated more frequently. Otherwise it is pointless, and you'd be better off keeping the site as a forum only.

We've had a rake of gigs etc since the site opened and none have been covered. Not having a go at anyone but if that section is to work the pace needs to be picked up.

Do you realize what percentage of the front page content came straight from CT? And how he was saying all the time that if people wanted more X, Y or Z then they needed to do it and send it in?

Yep, well aware he did the lions share. But in the last 5 years or so there were quite a few people chipping in with quite a variety of content, I can think of five at least off the top of my head ,whereas in five months on metal warfare  there's been one article from Grimey.

On MI, I believe CT used to get send material for review and he would divvy it up among those who would write reviews. I don't think there's a centralised submissions spot here where people are sending stuff into, so it looks like the onus is on the users to show a bit of initiative. The last two albums I picked up are the new Queensryche and The End Machine albums. I'll review them if you find two things to review?  :)

I'm aware of the lack of content on the front page and I'm definitely to blame for laziness on my part. I'm not sure if I'll ever get round to creating much content myself, and other than Jamie putting in the effort for his interview with Sacrilegia (which I'm very thankful for) there's been no other user contributions. If anybody does want to contribute anything, then please do get in touch.

The idea of having material sent in for reviews might be worth looking into, but there's still the issue of getting the actual reviews written by somebody, and I don't want to be coming across as saying "everybody do free work for me while I do nothing" (although I guess in a way that's kind of what I'm actually saying). I might need to rethink the front page. Possibly just have it be gig listings, upcoming releases, and local resources, or something like that. Having the same thing sitting stagnant for months on end looks kinda bad.

A new domain could happen, but I'm unsure about irishmetal.net for a few reasons

1. I know this site is riding on the coat tails of MI, but Id like MW to be it's own thing. Irishmetal is really just metalireland flipped
2. It's also very similar to irishmetarchives and I don't want to be encroaching on their territory

Irishmetalwarfare.com?

Or maybe I'm just overthinking it. Either way, it's probably best to see what others think before throwing money into another domain.

I didn't know flaming text still existed! Could work as a temporary fix. There's also the old placeholder I had up originally

Possibly FAR too late now but what about having the name in Irish: Miotal Éireann?

Not much movement on this? I did about 3 live reviews in the latter years of MI so I wouldn't mind helping out and doing one or two album reviews every month or so.

Main page could have ->

Link to forum front and center. Then the headers for Reviews / Upcoming Releases / Gig listings / Local Resources (Links to Irish Metal Archive, Recording Studios in Ireland, other services like CD duplication, tshirt printing). As with MI could have the latest 3-5 reviews linked across.

Yo!

I could be wrong, but it seems to me like the search function currently only returns one result within a given thread. So, for example, if you do a search for "judas", you will get a few results, but only one for each thread, whereas it's safe to say that the "Now Playing" thread contains the word "Judas" at least a few dozen times. This is an illustration case I plucked out of the case to test with, but I've already noticed it with a few other search items.

Can this be checked and corrected if it is indeed the case? Thanks

That's the default behaviour as it prevents the search results from being flooded with results from the Now Playing thread if you search for "judas"

On the search page there's a checkbox for "Show results as messages" which will display all the individual posts in the way you're wanting

Gotcha. Nifty. Sound!

Revenge are really scraping the barrel for titles at this pont.
