Jack Charlton Rip. Shite buzz

RIP. Shed tears this morning for the first time in years over that. Terrible.

Ah feck. He put Ireland on the football map and gave us great memories.

Very good documentary about Jack's time with Ireland hosted by Colm Meaney if anyone fancies a bit of nostalgia.

Yeah very upset to read that this morn. I guessed he was unwell when his current wellbeing was ignored on the recent RTE shows.

14 year old me will be eternally grateful to him for how his work lifted our country out of the hum drum doldrums. Himself and Attenborough  - two damn excellent English men

What a great man. The things he did for our country were incredible.

With all the tributes this morning whilst lauding his managerial career were more about what a nice person he was. And that is a lovely way to be remembered. At the final whistle when we bet Italy in 1994 when everyone started celebrating he went to protest at 2 New Jersey cops who had manhandled 2 Irish supporters who had ran on the the pitch. He loved the fans and we loved him. RIP.

Absolutely. I listened to the off the ball broadcast today, and fair play, they had a load of people talking about him, and from McAteer to Hogan from the Indo, you could hear the emotion in their voices. They adored him. And so did we. The bird thought I'd gotten bad news from home the way I welled up looking at the phone this morning.

northern england and scotland aren't that far away culturally from ireland so jack was able to bridge a lot of mistrust and suspicion in a way a manager from southern england might not have been able to.

the abandoned match at lansdowne road seems like only yesterday to me, but it's a while ago now. This getting older thing is fairly shit

Ah, nice one lad! This is going to be some deep nostalgia alright.

from maradona in 86 to euro 96, all the culture blended together, all the sporting events had a feeling too. The barcelona olympics slotted in nicely between two great football tournaments, and probably the last interesting hw boxing era

United breaking my heart again, we'll be back with a good run and Leicester at the end of the season though.

Utd hitting a great run of form. Defence is still ropey but they have enough to finish top 4 easily enough. Leicester on the other hand are the ones most likely to miss out.

As a Chelsea supporter I feel that the sharty nature of the 3 contenders for the 2 places makes for a fairly nail biting finish to proceedings, especially in light of Man City getting away with it

I've been an Everton fan for 30 years and I am at the point of just bending over and letting all these emphyrio and the lads have their way,,ye won. I'm like the confederacy. Romantic and handsome and bested by power chording Picard lovers. (Not aimed at you Eoin it's just fuck this it's the apocalypse)
