Aphex twin

Had the CD single of that years ago. My favourites of his are Drukqs and Selected Ambient Works 1 and 2. Syro is pretty good too though and the Richard D James Album as well. Polygon Window is also very good. I go on a buzz for Aphex Twin every now and then.

Keith Cross & Peter Ross - Bored Civilians (1972)

Added here for the opening track alone! In parts folk, prog rock, and jazz but basically a couple of Brits doing their version of 'Laurel Canyon' sounding rock.

Digging that. Been on that sort of buzz lately.

Pretty sure I posted Jonathan Wilson on here at some point. He became an obsession last year. He has been cited as the new king of Laurel Canyon. Don't really know what that means but seems like an appropriate place to post this. Excuse the terrible, terrible artwork. The LP artwork is atrocious throughout.

Also, maybe related only in it's genius but this track blows my mind.

Just listened to the first track on that, I really like the production style, every instrument has room to breathe and sit in the mix.

E.L.O. come to mind listening to that first track, bit of Beatles & Queen too. Nice.

Some great suggestions there folks.

Listening to White Ladder for the first time in years . Truly a special album.

John Francis Flynn released his debut album this week. From Dublin, would be affiliated somewhat with Lankum and that crowd in terms of contemporary bands and musicians doing the traditional thing and being veru influenced by Planxty and the like. The album is proper brilliant! Excellent use of keys, tape delay and samples and other effects here and  there...all used very subtley underneath the 'folkier' aspects. He also plays double tin whistle for a couple of the tunes.

Highly recommend giving it a go if it sounds up yer street.

Have seen a lot of heads talking about it positively too and it's been getting great reviews.

Listened to it twice over the weekend. Very enjoyable. First thoughts are that it could do with another up tempo tune or two but it may settle after more listens.

As in that godawful David Gray album that every household in Ireland had back in the late 90s??!!

A few drinks tonight and this is where my music has settled!

Embryo - Live (1977)

A fantastic and relatively unknown slice of jazz rock/fusion! Turn it on loud and get lost in it! Brilliant!

I like it. The man is talented.

No, sorry just no...it was shit, it was a horrible, shit, beige, nondescript shit beige boring album that paved the way for loads of similarly shit, boring, beige, nondescript singer-songwriter types that this country seems to have a particular affinity for. Any other recommendations for us? A Woman's Heart?

My heart is low, my heart is sooooo low...

I brought my gf at the time to see David Gray at the Point when we were in 6th year, or maybe the year after. It wasn't good, but it wasn't the worst concert I've been to in my life. The best I could say is that he did the songs more than justice live.
