I'm assuming that The Cure will walk away with it this year...

The Cure and Future Islands. Both released magnificent new albums this year.

Think this one is taking it for me

Yeah I really need to dig I to that Cindy Lee.
For me:Cassie Kinoshi's Seed, Geordie Greep, Prize Horse,Barret E Lediard,Bloody Head, ShrapKnel,Red Kross, Objections,Dime, Joy Dimmers,Bedmaker,Nightosphere, Porcelain, Omit,Beth Gibbons, The Cure..loads more no doubt.

Liked the Jesus Lizard and Shellac albums. Really enjoying the fact a lot of 90s post hc has been getting reissued via labels like Solid Brass and Numerous too.

The Cure wins this easily. Then again I listened to fuck all new stuff

Started this thread wondering how I missed a new ERR record and copped it was On Dark Horses.

Has that not been out for years? I def heard it a few years back.

This thread is (originally) from 2018 lads.

Might as well continue it for this year though...

The Cure
Gillian Welch/David Rawlings
Beth Gibbons
Julia Holter (Think it was yourself OFS that posted this earlier this year, good stuff).

Twas indeed. Great album. She's playing The Button Factory next month, either 2 days before or after Beak> who also released a great album this year.

J. Mascis - "What Do We Do Now"
Pissed Jeans - "Half Divorced"
Gurriers - "Come And See"

Half Divorced is lethal, I often have it on.  Definitely a favourite from this year.

Forgot to mention Shellac's - "To All Trains".

ØXN – CYRM

Loving the sound of this

I'm not big into lyrics in general, but some of these are fairly dark

Excellent album. Katie Kim's Hour Of The Ox goes well with it, she's a member.
