Things are slack enough on the live front!

[John Kimble]

Yeah, I can't really dispute that this year hasn't been the greatest gig-wise. Could just put this down to a bad year rather than signifying an overall decline. There was definitely a few years, within recent memory, where I can recall there being an abundance of choice but I'm getting on a bit now, so that may not have been as recent as I thought.
Struggling to think of much, Chat Pile aside, that sticks out this year. Full of Hell prob would have been great, if I didn't have to cancel last minute!! I was actually at the Manics the other night, not a fan by any means outside of a passing familiarity with the Holy Bible, and really only went as a friend got tickets and I was happy to get a few hours away from work and home!
Nothing announced for 27 has got me really excited. I'll prob go to Primordial and Napalm, but neither of those haven't exactly been absent of late.

There is absolutely fuck all on that interests me. I think death angel last summer might have been my last gig. Primordial/mourning beloveth/mdb next year is my current next one. Sabbat played glasgow last night. Those kind of gigs not coming here. When you think back to the days of dublin doom day, The Pint gigs, the Voodoo, few big weekenders in the academy or wherever with tons of great underground or semi underground bands all on together.... urfaust, dead congregation, ruins of beverast, hour of 13 etc and so on...... all a distant memory at this stage.

Hotel and Pint prices are a killer I agree. Hard to justify a few hundred euro to check out the likes of ceremonial bloodbath and a couple of supports for 2 or 3 hours when I might not even like them.
