Funny, I bumped into Nekroculchie at Beyond the Gates last week and we had a good natter about some of the shenanigans on MI and at gigs over the years.
It was a great resource and I wouldn't have a fraction of the number of mates/contacts in the scene were it not for spending a bit too much time on there.

I hope it dies. Absolute car crash of a site. Impossible to browse it (much less use it) with such heavy-handed moderation. Zero room for nuance or letting a proper conversation run on even if it went a wee bit off topic. Unpaid internet janitors are like that though, I guess.

Yeah, for all the reasons above I hope it fucks off but also because most of the people that use it are fucking arseholes.

Think Leinster Rugby Brigade, Worst of the Celtic Tiger Generation, Brown Shoes with a grey jumper with a shirt underneath it.

I've never actually been on Boards. I remember people talking about it a lot back in the day but I mainly used MI and Fastfude. Fastfude is another one I miss, but it was never anywhere near as busy and thriving as MI. Its window of relevancy was much, much shorter too, probably just a few years in the early 2000s.

Funnily enough Fastfude reminds me of the indie band era in Belfast where there were skinny jeans and poser types everywhere. I absolutely hated that movement and its music at the time, but what I wouldn't give for any rock-based huge youth culture movement now...

Does anyone remember a shortlived, Irish, metal-oriented social media site along the lines of Myspace? Going back around 20 years, it was only around for a year or two. Fucked if I can remember what it was called, but when I lived in Galway I met a fair few heads through it.

Forgot about fastfude - spot on about it but it was ok, made some decent connections out of it and found out about some good bands

Oh yeah!! I'm getting a flashback of that now. Can't remember the name for the life of me though.

Does anyone remember that young kinda Indian looking kid that used to turn up to the gigs with the black shiny Halloween wig on, mental corpse paint and fingerless gloves?

Actually, speaking of old scene heads, it turned out a few weeks ago that one of my metal head mates here in France was best friends with "Heavy metal jump!" Luke when they were kids. Anyone know anything about him these days? I said I'd ask on here but then promptly forgot.

I got an email from Luke a couple of years ago. I think he's back living in Australia. That's the Luke you mean, yeah?

It wasn't Dvblinia, was it?

No, that wasn't it. It'll come to me. It was similar to Myspace, mainly aimed at a younger crowd, I wasn't very active on it.

No, not that young.

Metal Éireann or Metal Éire are ringing a bell but I'm not sure it was either.

Yeah, that's the one: half Ozzie, half Frog, all mental
