Should cover bands feature in gigs listings?

Like we have Tool, Metallica, a thread about Whiplash often appears, like who gives a fuck about this? Plenty of real bands out there I hope.

I don't see the issue. It's not like the gig listings forum is littered with shows. The most current page goes as far back as September.

If you were a member of one of those bands, would you not want your metal covers gig listed on an Irish metal forum?

Well, I do anyway. I wouldn't travel across the country just to see a covers band, but if I'm visiting a town I'd like to know if there are metal gigs on, covers or not.

And yes, I'm sure there are plenty of 'real' bands out there, but I don't think a lot of local gigs are advertised on here. Sure H doesn't even promote DME on here anymore. Probably cos the average user on here is about 50 years old and doesn't go to gigs anymore 🤷

I like a good cover band, if I had the choice now between seeing, say, Metallica from half a mile away, playing whatever their latest dross is, surrounded by 50.000 gobshites or a Metallica cover band close up, playing all the classics, surrounded by 300 actual metal fans I'd choose the cover band all day.

Like there's a place for it and I know some musicians use it for a bit of cash but really who the fuck wants to know about a fucking Thin Lizzy or Black Sabbath cover band in Dolans or in Drogheda or wherever. And that guy who said he'd rather see a Metallica cover band than the real thing because for some reason he stayed half mile back from the stage you must be joking?

Really don't see the issue.  They aren't making gigs by "real bands" less visible.  Indeed they are probably increasing traffic to that area of the forum as it looks busier.

Where did you hear this? I just assumed he wasn't bothered anymore due to the gig section especially having very little activity. Bit weird if that is true since a fella who worked directly for Ticketmaster use to post about shows on the old forum.

Anyway his shows get plenty of promotion on here from myself and a handful of others.

I remember that podcast someone posted it on here a while ago they both had the same name I think I remember your man going on about it at the beginning. Seems to be a lot of restrictions on him since making that deal like no more tickets.ie only TM with it's greedy fees and now dynamic pricing which looks to have worked against TM as Pantera most likely would be sold out now had it not been for the bullshit that went on.
