I have the Hard To Reach EP on here and the title track is excellent. I see it's originally the tracks from the Envy split with a couple of unreleased tracks on there as well.

It's going down a treat watching the sunrise here out the window of a bus

Lustmord: Purifying Fire

Can't beat a bit of Brian. You'll have heard a clip from Black Star on countless Facebook and Instagram reels.

Jesu - Every Day....

Really enjoyed this on the grey November morning that it was today.

I thought I didn't remember much of it until it was on and I knew it well as it was happening.

Nils Frahm: The Bells & Felt

Chilled out piano experimentation. Sounded good on paper but wasn't my cup of tea, at least not at the moment.

Allerseelen: Sturmlieder

Martial industrial, haven't heard this in a while.

Ride: Nowhere

Makes me wish for a bowl cut. Or, y'know... hair.

Saw a fella on Instagram who is listening to one Merzbow album a day until he has them all done. You can hear snippets of them while he gives the little reviews.

So one comment asked what's his favourite so far and he says it's Hybrid Noisebloom, so I have it on here.

It's grand and all but I wouldn't see myself being in the mood for it too often or maybe ever again.

Only tangentially related in that it's a Japanese noise artist, but I saw Masonna live in Japan at that Beherit festival a couple of years ago. The curtain went up, the dude basically ran on stage, smashed over his gear and fell over, the "set" lasted something like 40 seconds, and then he fell off to stage left and the curtain went down. Genius apparently! I thought it was funny, but complete fucking shite. That said, Beherit's noise set that night was worse 😳

That description is basically how I imagine Merzbow makes most of his albums except it takes a few minutes longer.

I'd honestly say there's stuff in his discography that he hasn't even heard

Never bothered with Merzbow but a lot of that mad noise stuff doesn't really interest me. I like my noise and industrial to have some resemblance to music. I need to have a sense of order with the madness or I get bored.

To be fair, the one I had on had a little bit of order to it so I got through most of it but I can't see myself needing any more of that from him at all or further dig in to that kind of thing.

It did make me want to go back and listen to Fantomas - Suspended Animation for some reason though

Suspended Animation is savage and not even sort of like Merzbow lol.  I dunno how many times lately I have told you to put SA on.

Anyway Pulse Demon is great but I haven't ventured much further into the catalog.  Heard a few bits and collabs over the years I liked but you would have to be in the mood for it.

I own and enjoy records by Masonna and Merzbow but don't need more than one by either. Same goes for 90% of noise artists I like. Bastard Noise being the most notable exception
