Ashtoreth & Grey Malkin: A Crown Of Silver Antlers

Jets to Brazil - Orang Rhyming Dictionary
Eric's Trip - Forever Again

Heavens to Betsy - Calculated.

Mansun - Six

Exquisitely demented

I've never actually heard that bar Being A Girl. Attack Of The Grey Lantern is one of my favourite albums so I was always wary of tarnishing it somehow if the second album was poor.

Ah it's class. They leave the traditional song structures behind and set the controls for outer space. Yer man's voice is special, he could sing the phone book and make it melodic, but they're trying so very hard to put great distance between themselves and any notion of being lumped in musically with Britpop. It's far darker, aggressive and more complicated than the first one and all the better for it. For me, it only works as a whole album, it's not like the first one where you could pick any song out and it's class, the way it all falls together is what really makes Six stand out. Legacy is a total banger, that being said.

The third one is weak alright, bar I Can Only Disappoint You, ironically enough.

Yeah, I always wrote them off bar that "Wide Open Space" song but my ex wife really liked them and I gave that album a go on that basis. very pleasantly surprised. Not the shite britpop I'd written them off as at all.

"Being A Girl" is also a banger, hearing the full version rather than the single edit for the first time was quite a surprise

I'l give it a go at some point.

For the Miles Davis fans - the Birth Of The Cool documentary is on BBC Four at 9:05 tomorrow night.

Mostly Ween for me today, and "Pure Guava" in particular.

The fact they can write records as ridiculous as that or "The Pod", and then pull out a song as sombre and genuinely spinechilling as this is a testament to why they're so good:

That last line is incredible.

Went into Dealz about a decade ago for a pack of Hula Hoops, left with Grey Lantern on CD for €1.50.

Same! Though it was for an ex, I already have a couple of copies of it myself (the 3 disc reissue with all the B-sides and early EPs is mighty).

T.Rex - Electric Warrior.
I always found it interesting how Marc Bolan wrote these songs that were generally just one or two riffs repeated and the songs don't get boring. Monolith and Mambo Sun are two of my favorites on this album.

Boards of Canada - Inferno

Out today.
I'm enjoying it.

13 years since their last release!

A big mix of emotions/feelings, from spooky, sad to joyous!

(I couldn't wait for the vinyl to land, so went online ;) )

I just don't have time for shit music and I dont care about bands who run on"vibes" (apart from bad ones, obviously) . What I think doesn't matter anyway in the grand scheme of things, tis just my experience of them.

Incidentally,  it was them opening for Katie Kim.

Absolutely! I just find it good craic.

Give me recommendations for bad vibes bands though, always want more of that

Very underrated influence on hard rock and metal imo.
