I've been on a Wire buzz since it's been mentioned and as I recall, mentioned on MI numerous times. What a band, truly inspirational to many. Just listening to 'Send' which admittedly I'm not that familiar, wow great gear!

Definitely one of the bigger travesties in music that they're nowhere near as well known as their contemporaries. They're as good as anything that was on SST, for example.

SST wasn't the goldmine peple make it out to be in fairness, and Wire influenced many of those bands.

Speaking of SST,was listening to Saccharine Trust's "Surviving you Always" earlier today, easily one of the best releases that label ever put out. Bit of a lost gem. Angular, raging stuff that marries the skrokiness and electricity of free jazz to hardcore and post punk the way that Black Flag wanted to but actually couldn't pull off. Seriously fucking amazing record. "Paganicons" is the one people talk about but this is their best by a country mile, up there with any of the Flag/Minutemen/Sonic Youth/Dino Jr stuff we all associate with that label.

Still stuck on the Cancer House lp, and been listening to The Sonora Pine's "II" and Red House Painters "Retrospective" and "Down Colourful Hill" over the last few days

Wire are one of those bands that for some reason, I've never explored properly, despite owing one of their albums (Pink Flag) and loving it.

Between this and the Comeback Albums thread, I clearly need to give Send a go.

Jane's Addiction: Ritual De Lo Habitual

One of the best albums of all time.

Brilliant album. It's unusual in that the second side is better than the first - I had it on cassette, so I still think of it in terms of 2 sides. Three Days is a jaw-dropping tune, like a seedier 90's version of Bohemian Rhapsody.

NP UGK - Ridin' Dirty

Stone cold classic.

This gig from the tour of 'Ritual' is amazing

Only had Ritual on the other day, fucking classic record. Nothing's Shocking as well. That gig in Trinity there a while back before they imploded was great bar Farreler being clearly off his tits. I got to finally hear "Summertime Rolls" live though, so that's me happy.
