Michael Hedges - Aerial Boundaries

Acoustic virtuoso from the 80s (with a very 80s style, not like Tommy Emmanuel). I was out on a long rural drive and this was an amazing soundtrack.

Prince - Parade

One I'd never gotten around to. Was surprisingly excellent.

Neu! – Neu!
Neu! – Neu! 2
Neu! – Neu! '75
Popol Vuh – Tantric Songs

I wouldn't mind seeing Michael Rother (Neu!) live.
Has anyone seen him? He played Dublin last year, but I didn't bother.

I must check out his other group - Harmonia

Harmonia were great, check out the Cluster stuff too.

Harmonia sounds great

Brian Eno played with them too I see

Cluster on my list!

Helen Riply-Marshall (her hyphenated surname is fucking up my system)- Green Chaos. Beautiful, chilled out electronic based synthy somethingorother, recorded in Sydney in 1988 and recently reissued. It's hitting the spot for me quite nicely this evening  8)  may well have to grab an LP.

Mogwai: EP+6

Haven't listened to these in ages, and even though I lost interest in keeping track of them a couple of decades ago the early stuff always goes down well.

Absolute classic. Wore this out when I was young fella when I was first exploring "cool guitar sounds that aren't metal".

Michael Manring (the chap who plays bass on it) has played solo in Sligo a few times. Was chatting to him after the first time, and I said it was great to hear his own work as I only knew his playing from his contributions to Michael Hedges and Jeff Loomis. He said he didn't expect to be talking about a bass solo he recorded for a shred/metal artist in the northwest of Ireland, but there we were  :abbath:

I went to see him over in the Islington Assembly Rooms, London last year on that tour - it was cheaper to go/stay there that Dublin incredibly.

He did a nice mix of stuff from across all of his career and his band are lethal.

Youtubed Circle with Richard Dawson and Richard Dawson's own solo stuff last night. I am fairly sure I played a gig with him during my Fern Floor days and thought he was shite. Really liking what I'm hearing now, though. Seems he has given up the constipated barking for actual singing and his voice is really to my liking. Fantastic, original lyrics too.

Have always enjoyed the bits and pieces I've heard by him.

Newest Boards Of Canada track is getting a fair few goes here

I must catch up on the last Richard Dawson, but yeah, he's great. Fantastic live as well. Are you sure it was the same guy Andy?

I think so. Big red face, sweat fucking everywhere, growling/ barking vocals over folk songs played on an electric. The first one or two songs were interesting but after an hour of it I was praying my ears would fall off. The stuff I listened to last night was so much better.
