When did they last play here? Would love to see them again. Caught them a heap in the mid/late 2000s and not since I don't think.

2007 I think. They were suppose to play in April 2022 but it got cancelled.

Just watched "Satan spawn..." performed at Brutal Assault a year or two ago. It sounded... incredibly proggy. Not in a bad way.

Quote from: Mithrandir on January 25, 2026, 05:42:31 AMYeah I wasn't originally going but once I heard it was on a boat it seemed too weird to miss, it leaves tomorrow at 12 from somewhere in Docklands near Marvel stadium and comes back at 4. It's D666 and Impiety again with Bastardizer opening. I don't know them but I think they play Midnight kinda stuff?

I was on a boat show once on the Thames. Some awards ceremony pre-show. It was Orange Goblin and Kill Devil Hill. Good times, and a unique experience, have fun!

Late update but it was savage day out on the boat, spinal tap esque scenes of KK standing at the bow of the ship as it slowly came in to dock  We had to re-dock as some fucked girl on a bender passed out and the medics had to come on board, but apart from that and a broken string for KK everything seemed to go without a hitch. D666 and Impiety were great, Bastardizer were grand but not overly interesting to me. Definitely the most unique venue for a show I've been to, the boat was sweaty as fuck but a weekend to remember for sure. Some autistic/special needs dude brought KK's whole discography on board for him to sign including the Raven's Wing LP, even KK was a bit taken aback by that one

I had a dude standing next to me and couldn't figure out why I recognized him, it was Niklas from Bardo Methodology!

Then was talking to to this girl who handed me a Morbosidad guitar pick and said she used to play for them apparently. A lot of random as fuck run-ins.

Savage. Sounds like it was worth the effort.

Happy Candlemas fuckers. You know what to do  :abbath:  :abbath:

I had absolutely no idea,  until I read it five minutes ago, that Rob Halford did backing vocals on Feel Good Hit Of The Summer by QOTSA. I'll have to give the song a listen later and keep an ear out.

Read that before alright but it fell out of my brain immediately.

Yeah it's unmistakeably Rob doing the back ups.

Where did this band Faetooth come from and why are they everywhere all of a sudden? Seems like they suddenly showed up on a Roadburn bill out of nowhere a year or two ago and suddenly are signed to a hip (albeit very good) label, touring all over, endorsements, press, all on the strength of what to me sounds like a slightly more depressed 90s grunge album with a HM2 on it. I don't get it. Do they just have incredibly powerful management/connections or a load of money behind them?

They're not awful or anything (pretty generic though) but as someone who I'd like to think has a fairly good grasp of underground heavy music they really do seem to have just appeared at random and are sudddenly inexpllicably everywhere i look. I mean I'm not saying "industry plant" exactly, buuut.....

Now that you mention that, and in fairness, it's news to me.. but there is a fair bang of 'music machine hits' off it alright.
That's been happening right across the music spectrum for quite a few years now.
Good spot friend.

I've seen a lot of bands have that accusation at them recently where it's clearly bullshit (the band Scowl for example had been around the hardcore scene for years), and the pattern is that it's usually a term thrown by arsey men at bands with a female front person to undermine their contribution - I'm very concious of that. But this band do genuinely make me wonder what the story is for once,it all seems a bit sudden.

I could say the same about the band Peeling Flesh actually, again another band I've no interest in but they seem to have just appeared to massive acclaim. The hardcore scene is considerably more faddish though so that's a little more explainable to me.

Happy to be set straigh on both bands, incidentally, should my suspicions be ungrounded.

The issue people have with Scowl is they basically sold out on the last record and made a pop album.

I don't know how promotion works but there may be pipelines that me older metallers perhaps aren't totally aware of or use too much. The younger crowd could be picking up on bands through a larger spread of stuff like Discords and TikTok maybe spreading a lot themselves before it hits those of us who don't totally. There has been a noticeable uptick in younger people in the crowds of the gigs I've been to and I wondered where they all came from. Haven't a clue about the endorsements/press etc.

I wonder has the risk changed in terms of putting a band out on tour. It could be that post-Covid people are less discerning in what gigs they go to nowadays depending on funds so there's less risk to put a band out there. For example, last year I went to Wormrot and Night Demon without ever knowing either, as did one of my friends. I actually would have gone to Faetooth last weekend even though I only listened to them this week, but I was at Abhorration.

I'm choosing to believe the rise in non irish people and labels describing releases as 'deadly' is the international irish influence.

Went to see Dead Congregation there on Wednesday, still an absolutely force of nature live. The new young lad on guitar brings massive energy, I didn't realise T.K had left until I checked this week, don't know how I missed that. You'd forget how technical their stuff actually is until it's in front of you. I was hoping for maybe a teaser of some new stuff but it was just that Dismal Realms track they been playing for 4-ish years now. Bumped into A.V and got to say hello but was just as Concrete winds were starting so didn't really get to chat, i'm sure he's sick of people asking anyway. Massive sound from Concrete winds too with just the 2 guitars and no bass.

Also it's been longer between Graves of the Archangels coming out to now than the time between Covenant to Graves being released  ??? Shit like that trips me out.
