Barfly

Or in other words, Bukowski: The film. Does exactly what it says on the tin, it's a film about a barfly being a barfly. Seems to be a love or hate it kind of performance form Rourke, it certainly doesn't seem to have much to do with Bukowski, who was a sharp, observant asshole compared to Rourke's kind of dumb, loveable drunk, but it looks amazing (lots of nice grubby neon bar interiors) and has a lot of quotable lines. Faye Dunaway is really good in it.

Ah, I love Barfly! Big fan of Bukowski. Have you seen Factotum? It's better in my opinion. Matt Dillon does a way better job than Rourke. Still, love both movies.

I didn't think so. I'll just say it's actually an anthology film of sorts, the lads on the mountain is just a sort of intro amd outro for two fairly unremarkable and unconnected horror stories that wouldn't pass muster on their own.

Second watch of Pain & Glory (Dolor y Gloria) last night. Think it's def my favourite Almodovar, and I've never seen Banderas better in anything else.

Have to get me aul castellano warmed up before heading down to the in-laws on Friday, so if anyone has any Spanish-language movie recommendations, throw 'em at me.

Sound, nice one man! I guess I am more looking for re-watches, since herself will be annoyed if I watch new Spanish films without her. The Day of the Beast and Wild Tales are great recs for re-watches!    (And I've made a note of the other two, which we haven't seen; gracias!)
