How the fuck did ye catch a stickleback with a rod and a line?  Sisyphean task.  Any tench?

That's a grand pike.  I know the river now I just always drive over it on the way through and pay no heed.  I have the rod there but need some bits for it, might see can I get somewhere near here for a few casts of an early morning or evening before they get darker.  Often see lads fishing on the quays here but I imagine it is for car doors or traffic cones or similar shit.

The most enjoyable time ever fishing was fishing form the shire for pollock and a few gar fish formed up with their " I'll fight any man" type attitude.

They are so rowdy it's brilliant.
As it stands I've yet to go fishing this year.

Beach & rock fishing since before i care to remember ha... was out on the Brandon beaches near Castlegregory yesterday, a few small turbot. Mostly rock fishing for huge wrasse, pollack and triggerfish over the warm summer months lately (& hopefully more to come if it stays settled) around kerry and west cork. Some excellent fishing near Clonakilty for record-size gilthead bream for many years now - great sport.  The days of great cod shore fishing in east cork are largely gone since the 90s it seems. Great to see the bass stocks having recovered though - but the mackerel situation is perilous it seems. My buddy has started catching enormous skate from the shore in the past couple of years too (something essentially unheard of in decades gone by) - great that such a feat is possible. There's enormous stingrays being caught in tralee every year too, such a great spot for them (& other rays, tope etc).
