Despite my CDs being minded like babies I have two or three of them that must have a wee scratch on them and are skipping, which is enough to push me over the edge of sanity and into a chasm of incandescent rage.
I'm going to get one of those CD clean and repair kit jobbies but I've never used one and I don't know what the best brand to get is.
Any advice from someone who has experience of such matters would be greatly appreciated.

Never used one of those but the ol' deodorant trick works, 'til you get sorted.

Thanks man.
Saw that on the Youtube all-right, seems to have mixed results but sure if it works for yourself I'll give it an auld go.

Let us know how you get on with tour cleaning/repair kit if you get one.

I've been scaling down my CD shelves space by replacing jewel cases with sleeves and have noticed a few discs are not holding up the best.
Not too many, only a small habdul luckily enough. But some do need a good cleaning and even repairing, if it's not too much of a task.
The worst offenders I'm thinking I might just take into CEX and get them to run them through their disc layer removal yoke.

A couple or total gonners, unfortunately.
I have a copy of NIN - The Downward Spiral that is totally bollixed. Even on Discogs they note that some versions, of which mine is one, are prone to disc bronzing which is pretty much a death sentance for the ol' CD.

And a couple that have label/prints on the CD face that has degraded.
Once that comes away, no matter how clean the playing surface is, the disc is still unusable due to the data being exposed from the other side.
Can be caused by a lot of things. Just plain crap labels/prints coming away or if they were exposed to moisture at all.

Same thing happened to my copy of The Downward Spiral now that you mention it, skips right at the end of Hurt. Doubly annoying as the fade out isn't there on the reissue, it just stops suddenly.

Will do man, haven't done anything about it yet now.

I'm on to my 3rd cd of the downward spiral. First one went that way but I didn't know it was called disc bronzing. Every day's a school day!
