I thought there was already a Gjendød thread on the go here but it seems there has been some kind of inexplicable oversight. I take at least partial blame. I think these guys are among the best new black metal on the go. Their sound is traditional Norwegian but with their own strong identity delivered through fantastic bass lines in particular and some delightfully vicious vocals.

I see they have,  just this month, completed recording on their third album and have recently quietly released two EPs, one of which is as split with Múspellzheimr. Ordered.

Such an insanely hard working band releasing quality material constantly in fairness to them. Managed to pick up the compilation vinyl of there first 3 ep/demo second hand in bunker vinyl... Great to have that collected on one piece instead of trying to chase limited tapes

I have the tapes and the CD collection. Haven't picked up the vinyl version. Totally agree about their work rate and high consistency.

I am selling Gjendød, Nedstigning, Havet Tar and En Ny Vår For Hat tapes.

PM if you are interested.

Listening to the Motstand 7". It sounds incredible. Gjendød at their mid-paced best with massive basslines, acoustic guitars and an overall epic,  somewhat folky feel, topped off with nasty, nasty vocals. I've said it before and I'll say it again, they are one of the best BM bands on the go.

Krigsdøger on now.  I haven't given this anywhere near the attention it deserves. I intend to rectify that.

Krigsdøger CD on the way at the moment, looking forward to giving the album a proper spin

I had it on today in the car.

Presently listening to the split with Múspellzheimr and the Gjendød side, at least, is savage. Another ponderous mid-paced beaut.

They have a new album coming out on Hellthrasher next month which is supposed to be more wild, fast and chaotic in style.

I must check this band out. From the description, it seems they are something i'd like.

I've the Nedstigning LP on now.  Haven't listened to this in a while. Savage record and the artwork is still one of the best (most provocative?) modern BM album covers, in my opinion.

The one with the fatboy walking topless in the forest?
Ya that's not great now and I fail to see what you would find provocative about that.

Provocative for you, I see

I had a bit of a listen to Nedstigning on You Tube last night, it's rather good.

The new album, Angrep, is up for pre-order now with two songs streaming (which I'll get to later). It has been a good couple of days for new BM for me between this, Mooncitadel and Circle of Dawn. 8)
