I know there's a few fans here. This is genuinely fucking upsetting, but given his health over the last few years I hope he has some peace.
An absolute visionary.

Sad but, yeah, he was in such a bad way there is some mercy in it too. He operated on a dufferent musical level.

Ressurrecting (and renaming) this thread for the few Pond dwellers here who may not have heard the news yet:

The final album LSD which he started working on before his illness has been finished, finally, and is out in September. What a wonderful thing to finally have more Tim Smith music in the world. Single sounds great.

Mike Vennart stepping in for vocals which is absolutely fine by me (If you've ever seen the vdeo of him singing Dirty Boy a one of te tribute shows a few years ago you'll probably agree). Seems like they're continuing as a live band at least, and I'll be making a point of seeing them.

Finally actually got a chance to listen to that this morning and it is deadly.  Can't wait for the full album.  Vocals are great on it, I must look for his version of Dirty Boy.  Will also try see them live if they are gigging.

Yeah, so no surprise, this is inceredible.

More excitingly, I just snagged a tickt to see them next year. I know, wont be the same without Tim, but I've never seen them. So excited.

I've only ever heard the name, not the music - what's a good place to dip the toes in?

There's a song a couple of posts above this one man.

There's a "best of" on your streaming service of choice that's as good a place as any of you like qhat you hear after that.

There's a compilation tribute album from a few years ago, Leader of the Starry Skies, which really got me into them. Ultrasound's cover, in particular, of Big Ship is fucking amazing and spurred me on to dig a lot deeper.

I'd never heard a note of them before listening to that track, my knowledge of them began and ended with Shane Embury's endless championing of the band.

That track is at once terrible and brilliant, I'm so conflicted.

I think if this board has taught us anything its that you and I have the exact opposite taste in music so..yeah maybe they aren't for you

Dirty Boy is on the setlist for this tour appparently. Seeing them Thursday. I am literally going to have to brace myself for it.

Quite literally the best gig I've ever been at. Might be the emotional heft and communal vibe at it, might have been the fact it was in what appears to have been an old church adding a level of grandeur to it, might be the fact that they busted out "Dirty Boy" as an encore and it felt like the whole venue might levitate when they got to the end section..but honestly, it was actual magic. Mike Vennart deserves a special mention for filling shoes I thought would be unfillable and making it his own. Whole band gave it absolute socks though, Kavus looked like he was having the time of his life. Absolute joy.
