One of my favourite Darkthrone albums is The Cult Is Alive, which is certainly overlooked and probably with good reason. Probably one for the controversial thread as well but fuck are Darkthrone massively overrated in general and that is coming from someone who has a soft spot for a lot of it.

These guys are pretty good

Yes.
I had not listened to them in some time. They excel at blending the folk instruments into their overall sound , where as with so many other bands the  folk parts just seem tagged on.

Darkthrone massively overrated in general and that is coming from someone who has a soft spot for a lot of it.

Ah heor lad. Darkthrone are fucking incredible.

TV Hunger is a very close 2nd only to DMDS for the greatest Black metal album ever.  Its Atmosphere and its incredibly minimalistic yet catchy songwriting never fail to give me goosebumps.

I will say something controversial about them though, I consider Blaze to be overrated and not even in their top 5 albums.

Darkthrone veer from vastly overrated to outright shite. TV Hunger is possibly the worst album I ever paid money for (or taped/downloaded/streamed for that matter). Complete bollocks of the highest order.
