Iced Earth - Night Of The Stormrider 9/10
The pick of the Iced Earth discography for me, a darker, more sinister sounding release than the later ones, each song here is a feast of Power and Thrash and that much missed Schaeffer chugging. Cue your own joke.

Sinister - Cross The Styx 9/10
All the way from 1992, the Dutch veteran's devilish debut, a total massacre of an album that no Death Metal collection is complete without.

Amulet - The Inevitable War 8/10
"You pathetic bawstad, you think all this rubbish is going to help you?" Never a bad idea to open your occult inspired NWOBHM album with a line from 'To The Devil A Daughter' and it sets this 2019 release up nicely for what is a memorable set of tracks akin to Angel Witch, early Maiden and Raven.

Angel Witch - As Above, So Below 8/10
Listening to Amulet sent me reaching for these progenitors of the style, this was an obviously more mature and weightier set of songs than the old days ,Heybourne's classy guitar playing still front and centre of the show.

Ritual Mass - Cascading Misery 8/10
A few runs through this Pittsburgh based brigade's debut online had me quickly adding it to the shopping list, a swirling mass of cavernous DM barbarity that will sit nicely beside this year's Malthusian. Impressive first outing.

Entrails - Grip of Ancient Evil 7/10
Rivalling Drudkh for 'Most Tedious Intro Of The Year' award, the latest from HM2 hounds Entrails is exactly what you'd expect, they've even got a track entitled 'Skin Em All' so...yeah, the ancient shadow of Entombed ,Dismember and Grave looms large as ever.

Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

Qrixkuor - The Womb of the World

Mercful Fate - In the Shadows

Trepaneringsritualen- The Totality of Death.

Scumripper - For a Few Fixes More
Accept - Metal Heart
The Riven - Visions of Tomorrow
Malthusian - The Summoning Bell

Good man. Sinister don't get enough love. Cross the Styx and Diabolical Summoning are both excellent albums. Hate is their peak IMO. Possibly my favourite death metal album of all time.

Deadguy - Near-Death Travel Services
Catharsis - Hope Against Hope

Two hardcore bands that recently reformed and released albums that are as good as their earlier stuff.

Deadguy in particular still sound fecking ferocious:

Deadguy - Near-Death Travel Services (missed this one, it's quality!)
Enthroned - Ashspawn
Big Thief - Double Infinity
Ved Buens Ende - Written in Waters

Snap, brilliant album. I've not seen the documentary which I've lined up for this evenings viewing.
