Been sent on an old school buzz:

Bolt Thrower - In Battle There Is No Law
Bolt Thrower - Cenotaph
Napalm Death - From Enslavement to Obliteration
Carcass - Symphonies of Sickness

Symphonies remains head and shoulders above all the competition from those early days of British DM. And USDM too tbh. It is so fucking good and so heavy and so gruesome and dripping in horror and... so fucking metal. I enjoy Heartwork, etc., but Symphonies makes it sound like pop music.

Agree completely, its just such a vicious and manky sounding record. It was a total epiphany when I heard it first as a teen, opened the door to the extreme side of metal for me which I had tried before with albums like blessed are the sick and wrath of the tyrant. Disliked em, heard symphonies and everything fell into place and suddenly the rest of the genre made sense to me.

Also agree about heartwork, its a grand record but zero bite by comparison.

Have this on here meself at the minute.  It's class.  Loved the last EP but never dove much into their older stuff, must dig back through it.

Samael- Blood Ritual. Enjoying the buzz more this morning than the other day. Just letting it wash over me a bit rather than sitting down reading tedious lyrics might be the key  yeah, some of the riffs are so basic Hellhammer would raise their eyebrows, but I'm digging it  8)

I gave it two spins and there some good stuff in there. Much like Ceremony it probably wouldn't harm the experience to remove one or two of the less interesting songs, but still.

Trelldom- Til Evighet.

 :abbath:  :abbath:

Kaevum - ULtra
Emperor - in the nightside eclipse
At the gate - terminal spirit disease

Baxaxaxa - Old Evil

Krolok - Flying Above Ancient Ruins

Tribulation - Formulas Of Death

Pestilence - "Testimony of the Ancients"

Lethal, had a copy of this knocking around the house for years as a young lad and it became sort of part of the woodwork of neglected formatory shit but on a few spins over the last few years, I both remember and enjoy the whole thing.  Class.  Never listened to a single other pestilence album though.

Ha, I got Testimony of the Ancients on LP via Seasons of Mist this week, had to be done, despite already owning it on tape and CD. It's one of those legendary releases you have to have in at least 3 formats, just like Altars of Madness, Human, ans Beneath the Remains.  :abbath:

I originally got it on tape along with Death "Human" from FM Reocrds on Patrick St in Corkn for a glorious Xmas for myself  :) Alas I only managed to catch Death in McGonagles a few weeks later due to visa issues for Pestilenece, which is an absolutely crying shame  :'(  Still amazing though to think a bus was organised especially from our secondary school  :abbath:  :abbath:

Testimony is up there with the best DM fron that period, a classic.

Unleashed- Across the open sea!

Yep Testimony is unreal.

I listened to the Biohazard album again. Great craic. Some of the leads are just savage. Best out of them in a long time

Myrddraal - Blood on the Mountain
