I hated it beyond belief when it came out but now I love it more every time I hear it.

A band I constantly ripped the piss out of for years as Tate is such a cringe merchant but yeah everything up to Mindcrime (and a fair bit of Empire)is great.

Phrenelith,new album!,

Also been gorging the new Phrenelith online.

Dread Sovereign - Alchemical Warfare 8/10
Third full length from the boys, their nefarious occult doom now honed and crafted to produce their best release to date.

Accept - To Mean To Die 7.5/10
The one before the latest from the AC/DC of Metal, damn near nabbed a t-shirt of this recently until I copped that the backprint was the album title in block capitals. 'sake.

Mother Of Graves - The Periapt Of Absence 7/10
New in the door from Profound Lore, I'm guessing these guys have a well worn copy of two of Brave Murder Day among them because there are echoes of it's melancholic grandeur all over this. No bad thing of course.

Undeath - It's Time To Rise...From The Grave 7/10
Last years Undeath album did nothing for me and I ended up not buying it but this one is still a hook filled paean to old school Death Metal so maybe I'll go reappraise that new one again.

Benediction - The Grand Leveller 7/10
A step up in every way from the clunky debut, new one out in April.

Destabilizer - Monopoly On Violence 6/10
Just a YouTube listen, brand new one from the Danish thrashers in the vein of Gama Bomb, Municipal Waste ..not a bad listen at all, may pick it up somewhere down the trail..

This is savage. It's so dense but it all shines through at the same time.

But lacks any character at all, I thought. Same with their last one. Just aping DC who in turn were aping Incantation but at least DC put their own flavour on it.

Lucifer's Hammer - Be and Exist
Sanhedrin - The Poisoner (have a bit of a soft spot for this trio, just really solid heavy metal, new album out later this year as well).
Sign of the Jackal - Heavy Metal Survivors
Obscura - A Sonication (this is actually quite good).
Necromaniac - Sciomancy, Malediction & Rites Abominable (absolute banger)

Blut Aus Nord - The Work Which Transforms God

Love their warped riffs

Ulver - Nattens Madrigal

Pretty straight up brutal BM! Great album cover too.

I thought the last one was brilliant, those low, low echo type vocals are brilliant.
By DC do you mean Dead Congregation?
I love their stuff as well, especially the last one they released
That seems like years ago now.

Was on the Dolorian discography again last couple of days, today in the mood for easy listening:

Faith No More - Angel Dust
Portrait - Crossroads
Megadeth - The System Has Failed
Mercyful Fate - Don't Break the Oath
Pantera - Trendkill

Had The System Has Failed on a few weeks back, the production is a bit dated but the songs mostly still hold up, easily the best Big 4 effort since Youthanasia anyway.

Yesterday evenings spins:
Rainbow - Rising
Iron Maiden - S/T
Judas Priest - Unleashed in the East
John Coltrane - Giant Steps

Dated production for sure, but it has a handful of decent tunes and, more than anything else, it has Chris Poland.

Triumph, Genus - Eugenia
Sabbat - Sabbticult
Tiamat - Clouds
Black Sabbath - Master of Reality
The Lord Weird Slough Feg - Traveller

Judas Priest - Painkiller.
Reeking Aura - Bone And Bloodmeal.

Tarot - Glimpse of the Dawn
Gloomy Reflections - Oath of the Paladins
