Biden used ICE but yeah, he's gets a pass. Barack Obama deported 3.1 million people, also gets a pass. A few pissed off democrats , Frey and Walz, who are sore not to be in the white house right now egging the zombified trump deranged masses on to make a scene, and get killed,  while they live in their nice upper class houses. Great stuff.

ICE under Biden and Obama really isnt comparable at all. Obama deported 3.1m in 8 years, Trump over a million in just under one year.

Under the two Democrats, ICE didn't stop people in the streets asking for their papers, they weren't going around harassing citizens, they were properly vetted to be working in the job, they didn't send thousands of armed wannabe paramilitary types into Republican cities to harass people, didn't deport legal citizens to out of country prisons, didn't repeatedly disobey court orders...

So yeah, they get a pass, because for the most part they utilised ICE for it's intended purpose and through legal means

Every time I visit back home I'm astonished at how tapped into it people are. Still parroting the same stuff from years ago about how he'll run the country like a business and he's good for immigration. I think Ireland is just so heavily anti-immigration at the minute that they just see Trump as being against immigration and do the 2+2=5 sum immediately. It's no wonder MAGA (and Reform) have such an easy time manipulating people.

And coupled with wholly unbridled ignorant racism. The kind that's feeding an atmosphere in which working Indians are ending up hospitalized and random black families are having their homes petrol bombed. Not a single fucking peep out of the "protect our women" crowd (Pepper, etc.) about Musk/Grok either.

I know you're not, but just to make the point, I wouldn't take Facebook as an anyway objective barometer, mad as it appears, given that we are one of the most targeted nations on the planet for bot activity. I've seen estimates as high as 70% of activity on Irish internet spaces is bots/external. Steve Bannon recently openly declared Ireland as a prime area of interest.

The goal is obviously to misinform and undermine and while it is working to an extent, a reassuring number of real-life conversations I've had show it's not translating as quick and easy as they want. Still something to be on guard an in active opposition to, but I'm more optimistic about our own position for the moment, with the caveat it will take proper work to counter.

Yeah, the point is worth making. But I'm talking about among real accounts (most of whom evidently don't know how to discern bot accounts, bot pages, etc.). That said, I'm still not pessimistic about it myself either, although a lot of it has penetrated in a few places very close to home.
