Fantastic final, the best for a long time. To Selby's credit, he didn't drag it out as much as he has in the past, he played (for him) a very aggressive game. Unavoidable when he was on the backfoot throughout, I suppose but it was a joy to watch. Brecel was unstoppable, you'd have to call it total snooker. Well deserved win.

We were discussing his future afterward, would he be a one hit wonder or has he got what it takes to stay at a high level. Hard to know, he's clearly got a volatile temperament but he's held it together for this tournament so hopefully he won't let this go to his head.

Fair play to him.

Great 147 from Allen there. Wouldn't be a fan of either him or Selby but I'd prefer him to go through than that other walking corpse.

Thats the second 147 I've missed now. Gutted.

Missed Ding's myself, just caught the last black.

Went out for a game of snooker the other night for the first time in years. Got a top score of 8. Couldn't pot shit.

It was a cracking 147 by Allen. Potted some really tough shots.

The Ding 147 was unreal too. He tends to do it when the shots are awkward. Fair play to him, he just happened to be paying Ronnie.

Again, shows the standard and margin for error of the current game.

Carter fuck sake. Can't stand him. Hopefully Ronnie whitewashes him.

Always the bridesmaid, tomorrow will be no different. He's dull as dishwater with a small man complex. Can't stand O'Sullivan either but I'd rather he took it than Carter.

Strange thing, I never bother with the Masters but, like every other year, I have the last ten days of the WC booked off. I take it Ronnie is going to be hard to beat at it? How are Wilson and Higgins looking, anyone see them in the Masters? Any one else catching your eyes as potential Champions come May?

Mark Allen has potential for something and a bigger session would suit him. Didn't catch Wilson or Higgins. Personally would like to see Robertson in the mix.

The standard this year hasn' been the best, matches lost rather than won if that makes sense. Allen was also the standout for me.

Fair enough to Carter for some of the snooker, but ultimately wasn't enough. Ronnie himself wasn't up to scratch I thought. Lots of odd misses. Carter gutted himself with the last red.

Any icy post match interview too haha

He's an unpleasant little man. Wouldn't put the medal on either. I can't say I'd be that miserable going home with £100,000 for a week's work.

Thanks for the info lads, will have to have a think of who to put my few quid on this year. Can't be Allen though, not since I saw an interview with him years ago where he said he liked all types of music....except Heavy Metal.
I mentioned that before sure it's a grudge worth keeping
