*I can actually remember the last tume I went moshing - Entombed in the TBMC in 1997, went out for Left Hand Path at the end. Came back in bits after one song, said that was it. I was all of 21! Oh, to be that age and physically able again.

Was that the gig with Neurosis and Voivod? I remember being absolutely blown away by the imposing darkness of Neurosis that night. Neither of the other two bands could compare.

Neurosis, Voivod and Entombed? Whoa, some line up that was if so.
Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

Quote from: Carnage on July 10, 2025, 08:59:14 PMCircle pit me hole. It's running around and it's quite silly. So is moshing, but I've done that in my youth so it gets a pass - unless you're one of those hardcore kung-fu wankers, then you're gettimg a slap.

Yes me my hole.
Those king fu type moshpits are so so stupid.
There is footage from the latest Dying Fetus tour and it's looks like a shit out of time cardio routine for people that haven't read the manual yet.

The merch for this whole day seemed to be expensive. I wonder did that go to charity as well.

Entombed headlining, Neurosis and Breach supporting. Neurosis were band of the night alright, blew me away completely. The Neurosis/Voivod gig was the following year I think, Today Is The Day opened. I missed them, unfortunately, Voivod were really boring and Neurosis were great, though a bit more polished and had less impact than the previous gig.

Oh yeah, those two gigs have merged in my head. Breach were class and that album they were touring, Venom, made a big impact on me. Today is the Day were the revelation the following year. So fucking deranged.

I thought my moshing days were over too until I went to see Abigail recently and was possessed by drink and music and started launching off the monitors at the front  Probably helped the place was absolutely feral though.

That'll do it. I think I'd break my neck if I tried it now.

I got in just as their last chords were ringing out. I was raging, that album they were touring is immense. Voivod were a huge disappointment, boring as fuck. It was the Eric Forrest-led line up, but I actually love Phobos so should have enjoyed it. Can't really remember Breach's set from '97 but I know I enjoyed it.

There's footage online at a Nails gig somewhere and it looks like a mass epileptic seizure. For a deadly band, the calibre or mongo at it would make me think twice about going to see them if what I saw was typical mosh pit carry on.

Regarding the merch, I saw a headline last night that they raised 190 million USD for the charities. A mind blowing sum if true.

The Black Sabbath final gig raised $190M? Me fuckin hole.

Apparently there was five million people streaming it, at £25 each that wouldn't put it far off the $190m

Quote from: The Heretic on July 11, 2025, 10:34:30 AMnot a fkn chance did it raise that

I could believe it. Tom Morello put it at £140M

The golden circle tickets were £400 each, some lad on here selling seating tickets last week for £500 each - plus streaming (£30 x 5 million viewers), plus merch (£45 a shirt, £50 a poster, £90 a hoodie, £7.5 a chip etc.) - all the bands paying their own way (supposedly). Plus there was a heap of upgrade packages for all sorts - early entry, side of stage, merch packs etc.

Now, how all that money is precisely accounted for who knows (staff, costs, stadium vendors), but I could easily see it doing those numbers and have a few quid spun off here and there for various folks/costs.

5M paid streams is way higher than I'd have put it at, but I suppose it'd be possible. It's not from the gate and merch anyway, even if the ticket prices were astronomical.

Been watching this in fits and starts s8nce it was on, just getting to the Pantera set now. Fucking atrocious, jesus. Gojira fairly brought the heavy though.
