Forum destruction!

Looks like the Revelation of Doom forum is gone.  If that's it,  it didn't last long and it's a real shame as it seemed to be picking up nicely where NWN left off,  but with a tighter moderation policy.  Labels and bands of all sorts were welcome to promote their product but there seemed to be an understanding that ungentlemanly behaviour would have consequences.  Seemed like a reasonable policy to me.  I hope it's a mere technical glitch and it will be back online as NWN was an invaluable resource for underground metal music, despite an occasionally unpleasant undercurrent from certain users (then again, I nabbed a few bits and bobs that piqued my interest from the dreaded Darker Than Black records despite finding your man Moebus to be an obnoxious ejit. I must be a cryptomisogynazitransphobe!) Not into the policing of the metal scene by interlopers but it looks like that's the age we currently live in.  This place is ok but often the discussion is around stuff that I'm not into so I need another place to go to find the good stuff.  Are underground metallers fated to become forum nomads?

Over the years I've posted on loads of music forums and they've mostly gone now, as social media has taken over. I personally prefer messageboards above anything in this regard. Currently I post on here and very occasionally Terrorizer (which isn't used a lot) and on Metal Archives which is by far the busiest one I've found. I used to post on Hellride and miss that community a fair bit TBH.

Fucking sucks alright, NWN was invaluable for finding new and unknown gems and ROD was doing a great job filling that void. No other forums come close to that level. Like you said though hope its just a technical thing and not gone for good

It's a weird one trying to settle in to a new forum.  This one was grand as it felt like a simple continuation of MI for the most part.  RoD was a continuation of NWN and I was getting the feel of it.  The Klaxon one looks alright and I'm signed up but hardly active at all as the NWN diaspora seemed to move en masse to RoD. I've looked through the Metal Archives forum but I dunno,  it seems all a bit woke and right on to me or something.  Maybe it's just because I'm not familiar with the place.  Any other forum I've taken part in over the years has fizzled out.  The doom-metal forum is somehow still alive but it's the most cold,  lonely and cadaverous place to hang out...

Facebook was cuntish for metal talk, I found.  Too much poser photos,  no actual discussion.  Twitter is a fucking cesspit from what I can see so why anyone with a jot of self respect would use that is beyond me. 

What I love about a good forum is the depth and breadth of music knowledge that can accumulate if it attracts the right people.  For the very few faults of the NWN forum (mostly stupid shit you could just ignore) it was hands down the single most active and vibrant metal forum I've even been a part of. By miles and miles.  It was constantly active and RoD seemed to be filling in that gap nicely so if it's gone it's another win for the far left Nazis and another loss for quality metal discussion.

I liked ROD. It was pretty civil and didn't lean as hard on the gasmasks n goats/nsbm crap (seems the other two forums to spring up from the NWN ashes are leaning that way, Warfare Noise being the less horrendouis of the two). Hopefully it's back.

A couple of music and instrument forums are the only kind of social media I bother with. Forums allow for discussion and exposure to opinions and bands it's easy to isolate yourself from on other platforms. Those contrasting opinions and personalities are actually something I enjoy. The formats of twitter and facebook aren't really conducive to discussion, either. When the forums all go, that will suck balls.

Incidentally - had to set up a personal  facebook account (which I don't use or post on -so if you see me there don't add me) in order to set up a band facebook account in order to be able to post gigs we're doing, and Facebook now insists you have to use your real name??And then asks for proof?? Fuck that.

I would imagine it's just technical issues the forum was up this time yesterday then just stopped working I doubt it was taken down as it seemed to be running well.

As many of you know, the server we were on was unexpectedly taken down by a range of network attacks on Tuesday afternoon.

Some "people" have no goals and seek to disrupt the fun of others, so the pathetic little cocksucker that instigated the DDoS attacks did it out of butthurt. No matter what, this forum has bounced back stronger than ever. The coward thought he was going to beat me easily, but unfortunately for him, he's only made a fool out of himself. Fuck off and die!

It's back now and seems it was a DDoS attack....
