Who here uses drum programming software? Looking for recommendations. This is just to get demo versions of tracks done so nothing too outlandish needed, however I used Hydrogen before and found it unlistenable. Free is preferred but wouldn't rule out spending a bit on something that sounds passable and is user friendly.

Best free one that I know of: https://www.powerdrumkit.com/

I've used it myself on a few metal demos and it has done the job nicely.

Did you use it on Sand Shandy?

I used the drum programming facilities in various versions of Cubase over the years and find it hard to beat.

But these days you might want to take a look at EZ Drummer as a start point from Toontrack...

I'd recommend this too, very comprehensive and malleable for a free kit.  Very quick to get the bones of a song down with it and come back to tweak later.
