I was never mad into COF but do love the 1st Lp and bits and pieces up to and including Midian. Her Ghost in the fog was one of the first heavier metal songs I heard as a kid where you have the "what the fuck is this" kind of feeling. Never saw them live before so ended up going last night. I enjoyed it for what it was surprisingly I recognised a lot more from the set than I expected. Was great to hear the forest and summer dying.

Was literally thinking the same thing as the post above me wouldn't bother going again unless they did the 1st lp in full. Which is more so down to not being a big fan as the live performance itself was decent and pretty much what I expected.

Those high screens must be pre-recorded or something? I noticed last night and in any of the live videos I watched he has this weird habit of holding the microphone really far away from his face when he does them to the point that if he was doing it then the microphone wouldn't pick them up properly.

After all these years I only copped last night that it's Doug Bradley's voice at the start of her ghost. I always thought the voice sounded like Pinhead and the "no tears part" was just a tribute to a classic film.

It's mad I worked with a fella a few years ago who was at those two gigs they played in the music centre back in 98. He said they were handing out free tickets on the street to try and get people into the venue as they had sold so poorly yet here they are now selling out the academy when in 98 they would been in their prime.

Bit o context there.

The first was well attended, the second piss poor turnout. They were back in 2001 on the Midian run and it was sold out or close to it.

I was actually in early doors.

Having been apprehensive about Butcher Babies who ended up playing without a bassist even that first band made them feel like Led Zeppelin, truly horrific stuff. Yer wan was in some competition to keep up with her overlapping backing track  ;D .

High Parasite were relatively decent but can't say I'd revisit their work however. Only twigged it was the guy from My Dying Bride.

Butcher Babies just a nothing band, gas to watch people so into them. No real business on any of the bills they've been attributed to lately. That said high energy less gimmicky than the last time I caught with Charlie Benates missus on dual vocals. It's easy to grant them some positivity after that Satellite shower.

Cradle were grand, stellar but no more.

Schoolcraft was a better fit but newish girl done a job. Felt really short no Cradle to Enslave. Wouldn't be rushing back myself either in the immediate, catch them at a festival down the road no doubt.

Did Dani make the joke about "Kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse" again?

No but he kept saying Craggy Island instead of Dublin

The gig in 2001 was the same week as Morbid angel in the Music centre.I remember buddies travelling up to both at the time.I missed the 98 gigs, I was doing my leaving cert I think a week or so after.
