Anpost yet again. Ordered 2 items from Japan and whatever genius at anpost got it mistook the Yen value on the package as euro and tried to charge me triple the customs costs. I called them straight away and was asked to send invoices etc. to an email address for review. I did all of this 20 mins after the call which now is 2 and a half weeks ago.

Got a follow up email a week later asking me for everything I had already submitted so I replied saying I sent everything you asked for in my original email to which I got no response. I emailed them last Friday asking when will this be resolved. Got a reply this morning saying the parcel has been sent back to the sender as the date to pay the customs was October 9th.

As if thats not bad enough I called up again to figure out what happens next as the seller is going to  be charged fees in Japan to get the package back and will have to pay to sent it to me again all the costs of everything will be passed on to me. The person on the phone apologised saying the issue was caused by anpost but sorry they don't offer anything for mix ups on packages so all extra costs to get this sent over again are on me.

That's the second package these wankers have sent back since the new customs fees in July also had a Hells one sent back at the end of July which I am still waiting to get resolved.

Quote from: Hellyeah on October 10, 2026, 09:53:54 PMEmail from Google,  add free sub for YouTube gone up to 15.99euro a month.
Still not paid the TV licence, 160 per year for a service I don't use.

The plan for youtube soon is to bring in adds for paid subscribers as well they just won't have as many as those who watch for free. One of the many reasons ill never pay for youtube. I am watching less and less youtube these days as those adds they now have during live shows pissed me off to no end.

I had the licence inspector around at the house again the other week didn't answer so they left a note. Called at exactly the same time last year which was weird. Looks like it's been taken off anpost and they want to make it a revenue thing so I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up coming out of wages as a tax in the future. In saying all that you can't expect RTE to push all that propaganda for free.

I got a record in the post today (Current 93 'Dogs Blood Rising', for what it's worth), and it had such flimsy packaging the corners are a bit crinkled and bent. I'm not the kind of person who treats records like they are rare artefacts or priceless museum pieces, but it's still fucking irritating! It can't be that expensive to post the fucking things in a sturdier box!

It's not just an Irish thing. It's the same here Scandinavia. They just want to screw you for as much as they can.
I got some t-shirts custom printed in Ireland last year. They were posted to here in September. I got a few notifications from Post Nord that the package was for collection. Went to the post depot, no joy. This happened 3 times over about two months. Then I just forgot about it. In January, the sender said she got the package back, as it had been returned from Sweden to her.
As luck would have it I was home in February for my daughter's wedding and could drive to pick up the package from her home, as it was only 25km away...
I've stopped ordering anything online, it's not worth it, and to be honest, I can do without I've learned.

I don't doubt its bad elsewhere but it seems to be exceptionally bad here. I mentioned in the past on here about how Australian post stopped shipping to Ireland for almost a year because of the fuck ups An Post were making when the all the customs stuff changed back in 2022. An Post sending thousands of packages back to senders that came from outside the EU because the machines they were using at the time were reading the labels wrong. As usual no accountability and it was left up to those waiting on the packages to sort the issues out and pay out of pocket for An Posts mistakes. An Post kept blaming it on the new EU customs rules yet no other EU country was having this issue at the time.

Yeah, An Post seem to be the shittest of the shittest alright.
I think I've only ever gotten one package delivered here without issue. Out of about 7 I'd say...
My post (letters) is always late and I'm forever having to apologise to the relevant departments for being past the reply date to their queries.  ;D

Tidal streaming (Spotify alternative) has jumped from €10.99 a month to €12.99 to match Spotify's price. Ciao....

Back to SoundCloud and I use Bandcamp a fair bit anyway....

Fuck An Post. Spent sixty euro a few weeks ago, to ship over some stuff for me to use at NYCC. After a week of the tracking not being updated, apart from "your package will be sent internationally" I go back to the post office, to make sure it's actually left the post office (this happened before). They checked and "Nope, it's gone, just email them for updates"

A day later I get told "owing to an operational error, it's been shipped in the wrong channel, and it will probably be returned to sender. We apologize for the inconvenience". So now I'm hoping it'll arrive before I fly, and stick in my suitcase, and hope they don't pay too much attention. No such luck. Still no clue where it is after I get to NY. I get advised to put a claim in by the An Post guy.

Check the tracking Friday? "We attempted delivery today" FFS. New idiot postman couldn't be assed putting it in the shed like all of his predecessors have done for years, no. So I expect to see another attempt yesterday, let the old man know it's arriving.

Nope. "Your item is being shipped internationally " Again. Useless fucking mongtards.

Fuck sake, just reading this pissed me off.

Thankfully the company in Japan contacted me yesterday and has agreed to send it back for free but of course by the time it arrives now it will be November and the new customs charges will be in place so that's an extra €4 on top of whatever else the customs will try to steal from me.

Placed another Hells order last Friday so we will see if that one makes it through and I am hoping they included the stuff missing from the last order. J Dawg as much as he claims he replies to every email and cries non stop about people who don't reply to emails, he has been a nightmare to get a response out of on my order that was sent back. Chase is so much easier to deal with.

Power cut. Pain in the arse.
