After 2 years of whatever, it's back this year.

Waylander headlining. Usually a great days supping to be had at this but I doubt many will travel too far for it. Decent turnout at the last one before the world went pear shaped though so you'd never know.

Anyhow I look forward to seeing no-one from here at it unless they happen to be in one of the bands but I'll be poisoned there anyway. Great spot for it too, Geoff who organises it has great work done out there with the stage and the outdoor/indoor buzz so people can smoke and rain isn't a factor.

Are waylander any good? Is it that tin whistle sort of metal I imagine it is?

It is, but they're decent. I haven't seen them live for years, though. Mad hoors to drink with, or they were back in the day anyway. A bunch of us broke Tuam one night in the late '90s.

I'd be tempted to knock over to this, it's not too far from me but awkward to get to via public transport.

I'll be at it.  Was hoping to play it given 2/3rds of the band are from Templemore but one of us is away.
Anyway yup it's always great craic.  Ridiculous drink specials, fully outdoor but covered, weather due to be the same as this weekend.  Good crew of lads due up from Limerick and Cork to it by the looks of it, in and out of bands.  Geoff puts on a good auld day for it.

The transport is a real pain in the hole. There's a train station though so that's something at least

How did this go?  Attendance seemed a bit light from A video I seen could have been earlier in the day though

It was quite busy all day but definitely busier out at the stages for some bands.  Great craic, utter poisoning from drink, great performances from any bands I saw, favourites being Craic Sabbath and Worn Out.  A lot of new heads at it this year and chatting to them all it's nice to see people realising how deadly the setup there is.  Aside from the outdoor band area, the whole inside bar has been extended too and was just playing good metal over the speakers all day.

I don't even know how to explain the level of crowdsurfing going on during Worn Out but fuck it was mental.  Someone up every two seconds, whole band up, lads literally hanging off the rafters in there, piles of bodies.  Unreal.  In some fuckin pain today still.

Sounds like a cool night out. The annual pilgrimage to Rory Gallagher festival kept me in Ballyshannon though, is this always on the June bank holiday weekend?

Unfortunately it is and it always loses a lot of the potential crowd to the Gallagher fest.  The daytime crowd always looks sparse because no-one is poisoned enough yet but once the sun goes down the shit gets going. I think they need to work on the headliner a bit though, there wasn't much interest in waylander from what I could tell. Worn out were great craic though.
