Well lads, has anyone printed cds lately for a decent price? I'm planning on doing a small run of cds soon enough and don't want to spend a fortune. I'm thinking just cds on the spindle without cases or art.

I didn't go to them myself yet but if you email dutec for a quote, they are meant to be decent: https://dutec.ie/services/duplication/cd-duplication/ for some info.

I used Deepgrooves in the Netherlands for the last Third Island release and the quality is excellent, but I think they have put up the price since a good bit.  https://deepgrooves.eu/ - they are Vinyl primary but do CDs and Tapes too.

Nice one, cheers man. I actually have a copy of Burning and it does sound great. Cheers

A quick one for any bands/members here - a friend of mine is weighing up doing small scale CD duplication.  He has a line on gear, printing, etc etc but is generally curious on how much of an uptake there would be on it.

Would many of ye be interested in getting short runs of CDs done if the pricing was right?  Talking about 10/20/30 CD runs.  Not asking ye to definitely go for it (lol) but curious if ye would use it as an option or go with the usual 100 CD runs offered out by most places now.

The intent is that it is more beneficial for smaller bands to get 30 instead of 100 (which seems to be most places minimum nowadays).  I told him I don't know how many lads would bite but I could be wrong.

Variety would be smaller - probably only offer jewel cases with inlays & inserts as you like - but the quality would be good and the pricing kept competitive.

Anyway, thoughts appreciated.

If it were genuinely viable to do that kind of run I think bands would take him up on it. There's still appetite for physical media and a short run like that would mean you're not left with boxes of CDs in the attic.

Just as a matter of interest has he any rough costs worked out for those runs? You might get more definitive answers from some. Intrigued to see prices myself

I think he is looking at €90 for a run of 30, including shipping in Ireland.  Might do up to a run of 40 but he said himself he would be cutting it off at that and not doing any sort of large runs or complex orders with the intention of streamlining it all to ultimately make it cheaper for bands themselves.  So only offer jewel case, inlay, cd print, possible download code option (on or off Bandcamp), no special requests or anything.

That sounds great. If the turnaround time was quick enough it makes much more sense for a band to do a run of 30-40 that they can realistically sell and go from there.

Yea, I could see myself interested in a small run like this now

He has it up and running for small orders if ye are ever looking anyway.  Good quality, he did a few CD tests but I'll upload them when I get photos.

sound man. Might go with that for my next release

We used cd-duplication-ireland.ie for the Grave Sermon cds, really good value and quality, and a fair few different options.

I find most places only do digipacks these days. I'm not a huge fan of them as I prefer the Jewel cases. Call me old school ha ha
