I loved the 7" these lads put out in the late 90s or thereabouts. Really noisy, rough ska stuff that was incredibly catchy. I saw them a few times back then too and thought they were on to something but then they went quiet, moved to South America if I remember correctly and then when they returned they came out with their debut album in 02. I was disappointed. It sounded nothing like the 7". It was faster and way more aggressive and not really what I wanted to hear from them so the CD has sat on the shelf with a very very occasional revisit over the decades. It never really clicked. The other day I had an urge to listen to it and when I went to grab it I saw two Puget Sound CDs on the shelf. Eh??? I pulled out the other one and it's the split with Kidd Blunt, which I have no memory of buying, much less listening to. Turns out it's a winner. Both bands sound bloody great on it with a kind of angular hardcore approach to rock n roll. Someone better versed in those styles might be able to pin point it better than me.

This evening after listening to the split in the car on the way home from work I grabbed the album and gave it another long overdue spin and it's a bloody winner too! Somehow the overt nods to Striknien DC and Monkhouse that are all over it flew right over my head in the past but I'm hearing them loud and clear tonight. Time to finally get my teeth into this record and only, what, 21 years later? Not bad...

Mad, was just thinking about the band.

My memories are even hazier. I remember seeing them late 90's in the music centre at some all day thing and being really impressed especially with their drummer. Angular is the word, some weird time changes etc.

Caught them in Fibbers years later somewhere between 2002-2004 and I was really looking to take in the set properly but found them completely dull, even the drums were uninteresting.

Reckon that 7" is still available? What's it called?

Hansel and Regretel. You might get it el cheapo on Discogs. It's rough and ready but a cool little EP.

Just after picking up the CD on Discogs for 6.20 including post, I see the 7" there too will dive in for that as well. Good shout.

I have that 7" still I think, great band alright. Saw them a couple of times back in the day (even played a few tunes with a couple of them at a birthday party, it was dreadful). Never got around to the album, though I might have the split somewhere.

I had the album on in the car again this morning. Fuck me, it's so good. Dunno how it didn't click with me before. I think it'll be stuck in the car now for a while.

Broke up at their peak, the material on the split with Kidd Blunt is superb. Untouchable live at that stage too.

Ror us in No spill Blood now who are great,
Owensie is in Burning Realm who are stoner rock type stuff not dissimilar to Realistic Train, the previous band he did.  MW users would do well to check out both

I like Owensie's solo stuff. I'll check out his new band.

QuoteNo spill Blood

Seen these live a couple of times, possibly supporting Russian Circles?? But it didn't click at all. What would you recommend in terms of studio output?

The most recent album from last year "Eye of Night". Didn't care much for the previous stuff but their game has upped hugely since Ror joined

Ror is also in Burning Realm.

And as an aside. Jon Kelly who was on bass in Puget Sound played synth on the first two Wild Rocket albums.

He was a great bassist. His contributions to Wild Rocket were cool as well. Is he at anything these days?

Not that I know of.
