Singularly ferocious and reliably unhinged, Venomous Concept have been one of the 21st century's most undeniable punk rock wrecking crews. Formed by underground noise veterans Shane Embury (Napalm Death) and Kevin Sharp (Brutal Truth) in 2004, the band's swivel-eyed devotion to the most scabrous and chaotic punk and hardcore ensured that their impact was immediate. Since 2004's debut 'Retroactive Abortion', the band has been intermittently active, destroying venues at every available opportunity and producing a further three highly rated studio albums (most recently, 2020's Politics Versus The Erection), a brace of split EPs and even a mind-bending EP of cover versions, Deep Thinking In Deep Times, that included a wild rendition of David Bowie's Suffragette City.

Fast forward to 2021 and Venomous Concept are back, but with a massive, jolting difference. Pieced together over the last year, the band's fifth album showcases a wholesale upgrade and overhaul for the grubby extremists' sound. Brilliantly titled The Good Ship Lollipop, the band's latest full-length is still firmly tethered to the worlds of punk and hardcore. But where previous albums had been relentless barrages of breakneck savagery, this one is full of massive tunes, incisive rock'n'roll riffs and even gonzoid, sing-along choruses.

I am only familiar with the 2020 album which is decent enough so I must check out the other releases.

The band hate to let down the fans and promoters and hope to be able to arrange something in the future, but with no clear idea when that could be, we feel it is best to cancel this tour now. I get the impression all is not well with Shane Embury - he's not named above but missed the last tour or two with Napalm for similar reasons. Hope he's ok - always seems like a good guy.

I remember someone posting on here after the ND gig in Belfast last year asking was Shane alright as he didn't look well at the show. I didn't notice anything myself but even just to look at him in general I wouldn't guess he is in the best of health. Pity this was cancelled it would have been great to see Kevin Sharp back performing live in Dublin.

Hi everyone... I guess folks might be confused as to how well rather  I  can cancel an upcoming @venomousconceptofficial tour yet I am here in japan posting pictures as if nothing is wrong ? Well there is and has been for a few years ! I am slowly I hope getting to the bottom of it all ... as 2023 draws to a close I am most looking forward to being with my family ! They have had to see my ups and downs and me at my worst ... this stuff I hope will pass with love and connection and honesty ! Self honesty  really facing the fear of it all ...  Japan is at this moment the perfect tonic for me .... To Play these shows and get home - in the meantime my various coping mechanisms are pictures of our trip out here .. temporary distractions until I return home to my family and The real work then continues for me with the those people who love me and who I love above all others ... thank you everyone for your hopeful support lots and lots of love ... you will  see @venomousconceptofficial live again at some point just not right now and there's no one more bummed out about it at this very moment than me believe  me ❤️😘🙏🏼Shane
