Beyond Creation/Gorod/Entheos/Brought By Pain

Voodoo Lounge Nov 21st

Really looking forward to this one tonight though I can't imagine there'll be a whole lot at it, anyone here going?

Great set from Beyond Creation, I'm not really a fanatic when it comes to Tech Death but these guys are definitely on to something, elements of Atheist and Death in there with well thought out song structures, great energy on stage and flawless execution to boot.

The support bands were all absolutely awful for different reasons, clearly all buy ons. I wandered in early to make the most of it.

Brought by Pain were the best of the three, two of the lads from Beyond Creation were in the lineup so that helped a little. It was grand to listen to in there, even if the drumming was too sloppy but  I wasn't rushing to the merch stall to pick up a record.

Entheos were dreadful. I was excited at first as they feature ex-members from Animals as Leaders and The Faceless so I had some expectations. The vocalist was dire though, thought her metal core vocals and stage antics would be more suited to a cack nu-metal outfit, really made the set insufferable though to be fair the music was hardly inspiring.

Gorod seemed to inexplicably get the crowd going. Zero identity, one track sounded like Vile era Cannibal Corpse, another Killswitch Engage, a bunch of Tech Death songs tossed in for good measure. I had to sit the last three songs out to compose myself before Beyond Creation hit the stage.

Turnout wasn't the absolute worst maybe 120? Great selection of merch and after the Slayer gig nice to see you could get a T SHirt for 15-20 Euro.

Brought by Pain were great, vocalist looked like a younger, thinner Corpsegrinder, and him and the guitarist seemed to be having great craic

Entheos were pretty dire, last song they played was decent enough, had a cool Steve Vai-esque solo, but otherwise they were utterly forgettable

I really, reall enjoyed Gorod. Their studio output has gone from more straightforward death metal to tech death as they've gone on so that's probably why their live set is a bit schizophrenic, but it worked for me

Beyond Creation were immense though, so tight considering how complex the music is. WhenI heard they were doing Algorythm in full I figured they wouldn't have time for anything else so getting the few tracks from the other albums at the end was a nice bonus.

150 there which was quite decent really...especially on a rotten night weather wise. One of the top turnouts on the tour.
