As far as Nobuo Uematsu is concerned, The man is an absolute genius.

Aerith's theme is a real beautiful piece of music, Written at a time in his life when his mother had passed.
So,  a lot of that hurt was woven into Aerith's theme and other tunes in the FF7 soundtrack.

I prefer FF8 soundtrack personally but that's because it was my first FF game, Equally amazing soundtrack.

I always found FF8 music to be way more upbeat or way less bleak and hopeless might be a better description I must go back and try it out again. Also I think use the full reply and actually insert it as a link works for the embed

Been stuck into  Adrian Utley (from Portishead)'s soundtrack for the film "Arcadia" all weekend. Can't say I've heard much about or seen the film but love this, part pastoral folksy bits and part the late night spooky thing Utley is known for. Recommended.

The Kung Fury soundtrack is awesome. Best thing about the film in a way :)

I love covers of Commodore 64 game music, and there has been some great performances. Here's one of Auf Wiedersehen Monty by Press Play On Tape and Ben Daglish (who passed away October 1st this year only 53)

Deep Down Six Feet, Is Where I Like To Eat

This is hitting the right (or wrong) spot considering the lockdown situation. And the film is top 5 for me.

The OST for Okami is still one of the best I've ever heard in a videogame.

Castlevania SOTN's soundtrack is a symphonic goth / metal gaming masterpiece IMO.

Thought I replied to this thread but must have been the MI one... Some of my favourites recently:

Mica Levi - Under The Skin
Sinoia Caves - Beyond The Black Rainbow
Goblin - Buio Omega (their weirdest work if you ask me)
