Quote'Our Day Will Come' is dedicated to the shared national aspirations of the Irish and Palestinian peoples. The song title is a direct reference and translation of the traditional Irish Republican slogan Tiocfaidh ár lá.  A slogan that embodies the aspirations of the Irish people in their shared vision of a united Ireland free from foreign colonial rule. In light of the appalling ongoing genocide in Palestine the solidarity between our two peoples has never been stronger.

Metal Discussion / Slomatics - Atomicult

Hadn't heard anything about this. A forum search shows Carnage has given it a listen. Thoughts?

I put it on last night when the YT algorithm suggested it. Whopper, absolutely whopper!  :abbath:  :abbath:

Metal Discussion / Favourite "slow" guitar solos
September 10, 2025, 11:52:55 AM
Guitar slowlos? In any case, solos whose most prominent, characteristic elements are slow rather than shredding.

So far, only one of the ones that's come to mind is metal, but I'm putting the other three anyway, as examples of the kind of non fret-sparking solo I mean. I'm sure ye'll have plenty more metal ones to add:

Edit: I've been listening to the new Malthusian while typing this post, and the solo on this pretty much fits the bill too, as it happens:

Metal Discussion / Drumeo
May 27, 2025, 11:20:58 PM
I shared this vid in an Opeth thread there last week:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnDe1RnNNn8

But then I wanted to share this one too, because jfc what a beast:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6kOiWB-G9w

So decided I might as well start a thread and folk can share any favourite metal or rock Drumeo vids. I've seen a few great ones but I'm sure I've missed as many.

Metal Discussion / Crowning Glory album long shot
April 14, 2025, 12:14:39 PM
Some of you know people who know people, so not impossible, albeit highly unlikely, this leads somewhere.

On the metal archives page for Crowning Glory, we can read this:
"Recorded an 11 track album called "Winter in Our Blood" with Chris Tsangarides in 2009 that was not released, though limited promo CD-R copies were distributed."
https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Crowning_Glory/70057

So... how unlikely/impossible might it be to get an ear around a promo copy of said album??

More incoming magic from Dying Victims. French language blackened thrash (making vox reminiscent of Peste Noire) run through with classic rock/true metal and neo-classical elements. Three tracks available from new album coming end of March, loving them here:

Third track première via Invisible Oranges:

Ah, just saw DV already made a post with info about this in their thread in the Promotional forum, but sure a main forum boost won't do any harm.

Giving these lads a listen here after singer from Dionysiaque gave them a shout out. Too soon to really judge, but it sounds decent. Anyway, doom band from Uganda/Kenya: not something ya see every day!

Metal Discussion / Dolorian
September 08, 2024, 04:03:54 PM
All thanks to Pentagrimes for this, but having spent the last few days almost exclusively listening to their three full-lengths I really felt they needed their own thread so they don't slip past others. Looks like they've barely been mentioned on the forum down the years, which would in part explain why I'd never heard of them, but fucking hell this stuff is great, all of it. Don't even really know how to describe it: a mix of blackened doom and progressively post-metal elements, while also sounding like a potential common source of inspiration for later stuff ranging from Mgla to Morbus Chron. I'm sure others, notably Jamie, will have more apt reference points to share, but man it's good gear:

Metal Discussion / Heavy metal vocal wail off!
April 10, 2024, 03:29:09 PM
Very simple: Post one song you think has vocal wails to beat a previously posted one [quote the post in case things start overlapping].

Not saying I don't have other things up my sleeve, but I'll start with Crimson Glory - Red Sharks:

These are surely only the first drops leaking through cracks in a dam due to burst sooner rather than later. Personally, I do not like this stuff at all, but waves and waves of it are undoubtedly on the way. Especially now with Sora released, it's going to be even easier for individuals to go from idea to full length visual... something. I don't exactly watch music videos that much anymore, but will filmed ones survive such a budget squashing alternative? Any other thoughts?

High On Fire - Burning Down:

Putting this in metal discussion insofar as it relates to what happened with MetalIreland too:

QuoteBlogs waned as social media boomed. Platforms like eMusic and AOL Music invested in reviews for a while but then gave up. Often entire archives were junked. My CD single reviews are no great loss to posterity – but vast swathes of 21st-century music criticism are now literally unreadable. Every dead link on the reviews' aggregator Metacritic tells a story of neglect.

Metal Discussion / Hauntologist - Hollow
January 10, 2024, 10:55:42 PM
Side project from Darkside and... someone who apparently isn't M despite everything about this sounding like Mgla, albeit if they took a very slightly different direction.

So, long story short, all that means it's good anyway:

Metal Discussion / Slomatics - Strontium Fields

New album from Slomatics. A pretty considerable change in direction, especially in the vocals. Only getting to end of a first listen now, enjoying it a lot.

Ye've probably heard this was on the way, and if it was just her doing a rock album it wouldn't be worthy of posting in main forum.

BUT... where else should a duet with Rob Halford go!?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQTM3Dwpk0I

Catchy song, has to be said, even if it's far too glossy for my ears.

Haven't listened to it yet myself, but guessed a fair few of ye would be into this:
