General Discussion / VR headset advice
« on: July 15, 2020, 07:36:06 PM »
For the completely uninitiated - can someone suggest the best VR headsets around? Ive read some of the articles online etc, but Im still not clear on if the games are linked to the PC or if they're running on the headset etc - I know Oculus has their own "store" for games, but im not sure if you can buy non-linked games for a headset too, i.e. can you only run Oculus games on the Oculus hardware... or is there "open source" headsets that various manufacturers make VR games for so we're not only linked to one supplier of games etc...  my son (13) wants one and if we're feeling very generous we might help him out...

General Discussion / For The Sopranos Fans...
« on: July 04, 2020, 12:03:42 PM »
Maybe this got posted already but i didnt even know there was an off-topic forum on here!

For the Sopranos fans - a pretty new podcast is on Apple/Spotify etc, but also on YouTube where Imperioli & Schirippa (Christopher & Bobby) walk through every episode of the show, currently they're only up to around episode 15 of 80-something.  Regular guests from the show.... if you're a fan of the show this is absolutely amazing & engrossing (im totally obsessed for the last 10 years...)

The Grief – Debut Single Release

Debut EP Now released at:

Bandcamp -

Spotify -

iTunes -

The Grief is proud to release their debut single this month “A New Dawn” available digitally now on Spotify & all other common streaming platforms.  A New Dawn comes from the band’s debut digital EP “Ascent” now released (Feb 27). A lyric video for the single can be found at the band’s YouTube channel with the single’s artwork also visible below

Formed in early 2016, The Grief features members from Cork-based metal bands Corr Mhóna and For Ruin, some of whose members had originally played together in a Katatonia tribute band. The Grief plays a mixture of doom-tinged metal with influences from all the aforementioned bands & made some live appearances in 2017 before recording an initial unreleased demo with the initial line up of the band:  Robert Farrow - Drums, Kieran O'Leary - Bass, Paul Quinn - Guitars, Stephen Quinn - Vocals, John Murphy – Guitars.

With the drum position vacated by Farrow who has since moved abroad, the band decided to focus on recording their first 9 songs during 2019 at Murphy’s home studio in North Cork. Recordings were completed in late 2019 with Murphy performing the drum parts while a new drummer was being recruited.

The 9 songs have been mastered by Dan Swano at Unisound ( in January 2020 and the band plans to release the material digitally via a number of releases during 2020.
