FOR RUIN return with their fourth full length album "Painted In The Colours Of War" featuring 10 tracks of melodic/blackened death metal that the band is recognized for. The album is the band's first full length release since 2013 and will be released digitally and on CD in partnership with Gate Of Doom Records (Brazil) on January 29th, 2026. A digital single "Discord" was released on Dec 11, 2025 with a 2nd single "The Blood of Earth" available from Jan 9th.

Painted In The Colours Of War was recorded by most of the band's "Last Light" recording lineup, featuring Steve O'Connell (Drums), Pete Lawlor (Bass) and John Murphy (Guitars, Vocals). The album was recorded & mixed by Murphy at The Barn in North Cork during April-August 2025 and was mastered by Marko Tervonen (The Crown) at Studio-MT, in Sweden. The album's striking artwork comes from surrealist master Yaroslav Gerzhedovich.

The Grief is excited to present our second album Crucible, to be released globally on October 6, 2023 on digipack CD & on all common streaming platforms.



The album's release will be preceded on September 15, 2023 by the lead digital single "Disenthrall" on all common streaming platforms.

Crucible features 9 songs and over 55 minutes of heart-felt doom metal. The band has chosen the stunning artwork of Yaroslav Gerj again for this album; his artwork has featured on all the band's releases to date. Crucible was recorded at various times during 2022 & early 2023 at The Barn, North Cork & was produced & engineered by Murphy and mastered by Marco Tervonen at StudioMT.

Look forward to checking out Disenthrall on Sept 15th, with several gig announcements and some Merch news to follow around then too!

Back in 2011, we in FR had 4 new songs written (all of which were released later on the Ater Angelus album).  We decided to demo these 4 tracks under the careful watch of Alwyn Walker at Westland Studios in Dublin... The recording was fast - completed in only 2 days, March 17/18th, 2011. It's the only set of recordings from the lineup consisting of Myers/Alcorn/Lawlor/Murphy and until now have been unreleased.

These versions in many ways have more life to them than the Ater Angelus versions - now available from Jan 19th 2023 on all digital/streaming platforms.  Enjoy!

"December" is the debut FR album and was originally released on September 15, 2007.  The album contains many of the songs that featured on the band's 3 demo releases but the debut album was performed by the English / O' Sullivan / Myers / Murphy lineup of the band at that time. The album was recorded during March-May of 2007 but the production of the album was never what the band had wanted as it masked the quality of the songs. In the summer of 2021, John Murphy began the process of remixing the album -  all of the original 2007 performances have been preserved for this remix and some additional guitar & new vocal/synth parts were recorded to strengthen the mix, before being mastered by Marko Tervonen at Studio MT. 

Ten tracks featured on the original 2007 release, but 15 songs were recorded in 2007 by the December lineup; the 5 bonus tracks are now included with this release. Some of the bonus tracks were re-recorded by the Last Light lineup a few years later, but these are the originals and have never been released until now. The December 2021 remix will be available digitally  and on limited Digipak CD (from our Bandcamp) from Dec 2nd this year... in the meantime, here's a sample from it - the song "Wake" is track 2 on the album, and is available from today on all streaming platforms & YouTube.  Enjoy!

Having released the "ELAPSE" EP last year, Irish metal band FOR RUIN is proud to release a 4-track EP titled "RELAPSE".

The EP is now available digitally from April 1st, 2021 on Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp & all other common streaming platforms.

FOR RUIN - New Single & Digital EP
