Metal Discussion / New Flamekeeper album
March 27, 2024, 07:20:54 PM
Flamekeeper have just released the first single/Video from the new album due out on Invictus soon

https://youtu.be/63gEazrHpkA?si=Dtx_vug4kqaT7G-p

I was a big fan of the EP when it came out but this new song isn't doing much for me, hopefully it works better in the context of a full album. Judging by that track alone though it seems they've lost the rawness and aggressing I enjoyed about the first ep, the black metal aspect gone entirely. Maybe it'll grow on me, Hopefully album still has a bit of grit in there.

Long shot but like the title says, looking for a copy of the Damaar demo, either then 10" or the 12", if anyone has a copy lying around they'd wanna shift.

What an awful, awful idea.

QuoteNuclear Blast is proud to announce the signing of metal legends CAVALERA. Today, the band reveal they re-recorded SEPULTURA's first EP, Bestial Devastation, and first full-length album, Morbid Visions.

Max Cavalera comments, "As we get harder year after year, sometimes you've got to go back to where it all started! We re-recorded Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions with the amazing sound of NOW,  but with its raw and timeless spirit. The artwork reflects the times we're living in right now.... Apocalyptic as hell! We also have two new tracks with riffs from those days, remembered by heart."

Iggor Cavalera states, "I always felt like the recordings of our earlier work didn't do justice to the way we performed the songs. So, this is a very special moment in our lives that we are very proud to show you real fans our true representation of the amazing records Bestial Devastation & Morbid Visions with an insane visual identity...enjoy and see you all in the pit"

Morbid Visions and Bestial Devastation were re-recorded at The Platinum Underground. The albums were produced by Max Cavalera and Iggor Cavalera while John Aquilino handled the engineering. Arthur Rizk was responsible for the mixing and mastering of both albums. CAVALERA enlisted Eliran Kantor to create the artwork for both albums.

Just seeing footage and reports all over Twitter. Tornado hit the venue and the roof collapsed, seeing reports of 12 fatalities but unsure if confirmed. Fucking terrible if true.

He also has ties to Blasphemy Irkallian Oracle, Qrixkuor, Temple Nightside among others. As well as a long list of bands he's done sound engineer work for.

General Discussion / Shipping record collection overseas?
September 09, 2021, 06:39:56 AM
Looking for advice here. So I moved to New Zealand a few years ago from Dublin and it's looking like I'm here for the long haul if I can manage it. Of course moving here the records weren't coming with me but now that it's looking like a permanent set up I'm hoping to get them over here with me. It would be nothing crazy but still a fair bit of weight (100-150 records). Has anyone ever done this before? Unsure of what my options are and how much it's likely to cost so advice appreciated if anyone has any experience. Cheers.

I went to see Obituary and Wormrot last night and there was a fella with an urn with Metal stickers on it, holding in the air while headbanging. Odd to say the least, never got a chance to ask him if it was an old friend or kvlt accessory.

I'm sure a few on here have some mad stories, let's hear 'em!

Gigs and Festivals / Hellfest 19'
June 19, 2019, 07:06:53 AM
Couldn't find a thread here so thought I'd start one. Currently on the ferry from Rosslare to Cherbourg. Our car fell through so need to see if we can rent one or get a train when we get off. It's our first year going so not sure what to expect, has anyone gone this route before? Any general tips for the festival would be appreciated too.

We're also short 1 ticket, what are the chances of picking one up outside?

General Discussion / Earplugs for gigs?
June 03, 2019, 09:43:36 PM
I've been thinking about getting some concert earplugs because I can't stand the ringing I get after concerts and I'm a bit paranoid about hearing damage. Does anyone use them? How much does it effect the sound? Also any recommendations would be appreciated too.

Metal Discussion / "How did I miss this?"
May 20, 2019, 07:39:33 PM
None so Vile - Holy shit, how did I miss this album for so long. I had both 'Whisper Supremacy' and 'And Then You'll Beg' years ago and hated them so wrote off Cryptopsy and never looked any further. What a mistake that was, been on rotation all week, the perfect mix of technicality and heaviness. It's something else, the vocals are especially great. I can't get enough of this record, total chaos. Any fans?

Any bands you'd been sleeping on or just thought were absolute shite only to discover they're fuggin' deagly?

Metal Discussion / Best Immolation Album?
March 05, 2019, 09:31:31 PM
Giving one of these polls a go and may as well be with one of the most consistent Death metal bands around. Imitated by so many but none have ever quite managed match them.

Here in After gets my vote. I've always had a soft spot for it as it was the first Immo I heard, it sounds totally demented and I've yet to get tired of it. Nailed to gold is possibly the best songs they've written.

Metal Discussion / Desert island album
February 08, 2019, 11:40:52 AM
You're on a deserted island.
You have a Walkman.
You get one album. An album you can absolutely wear out and not get sick of.
What album do you pick?

One album only. No "It changes/too many to pick one". Just the first one that comes to mind.

I'd have to pick Iron Maiden - Seventh Son. It would probably be more logical to pick a longer one but I don't know how many times I've listened to it, it just doesn't get old. Gets me every single time, flawless.

Metal Discussion / Bootleg metal shirts in Europe
December 18, 2018, 10:37:15 AM
I keep coming across independant US bigcartel shops that sell killer limited run oldschool metal shirts but the postage is crazy. I remember a few years ago there was one or two I got a couple of great Judas Priest, Mercyful Fate and Sodom shirts from Germany I think but I can't remember the name, I'm not sure if they're still going. It's been a while since Ive bought new shirts, is there any cool distros on the go at the minute?
