Just finished up listening myself and to me it very much sounds like mid era Root x Mercyful Fate, which is fantastic. It's a lot more leaning on the heavy metal side than it was previous, to the point where I'd even nearly call it a heavy metal album rather than a black metal album. It really is fantastic stuff though, would seriously recommend a listen if you're into the likes of Root, Master's Hammer, Torr, Tormentor, Mercyful Fate...

In a year of unreal trad metal releases, this is just the icing on the cake. Hailing from Finland after putting out two extremely well received EP's, A Call to Arms and Chapitre II, and a split with kindred spirits Legionnaire, Chevalier drops the best trad metal release of the year. The EP's suffered a bit from very murky production and drowned vocals but this takes it up a notch. Production is very well done. And the highlight of it all is the pronounced rumbling, dirty bass lines. The guitar work on this is absolutely excellent and the drumming ties everything together very nicely. And to the vocals, ahhh the vocals. This chick can really hit them notes. Her shrills can really do work. I'd compare her to the likes of Acid and Znowhite.

So for anybody that wants some murky, dirty speed metal, feast your eyes upon this fucking kick ass record. For Fans Of: Legionnaire, Acid, Znowhite, Acero Letal, Sortilège or Vulture.

Sad to see this label go. Got big couple years ago with the mass of Icelandic stuff dropping like Misþyrming, Skáphe and Naðra.

Of the new batch I've only listened to Death Fortress so far but I'm hearing a lot of very good things about the rest of them.  Death Fortress continue to absolutely slap. Anybody listened to the rest of them?
