Metal Discussion / Ozzy Osbourne music discussion
January 10, 2025, 11:37:01 AM
We all know about Ozzy's TV shenanigans , his wife and kids and bat heads nonsense but can we squint past the embarrassing side of all that and have a discussion about Ozzy's albums.
For me his first two are metal classics yet its Bark at the moon I return to the most now. I've also a soft spot for the Ultimate Sin. Tribute is fantastic.

Like we have Tool, Metallica, a thread about Whiplash often appears, like who gives a fuck about this? Plenty of real bands out there I hope.

What a phenomenal performance by Bambie there in the semi final. Like our own Marilyn Manson. Loved it.

New album on the way from Dublin's finest. "Romance" is the title. Pretty decent promo clip doing the rounds inspired by the elevator scene n the Shining.  Really looking forward to this, Skinty Fia is a masterpiece.

Black Sabbath, the grandfathers of metal, some of the greatest albums ever in music. Your job now is to pick two albums from their catalogue that you love the most. Just 2 mind...

I love Spotify, it's great to play some music or a podcast in the car or out cutting the lawn. I've come across some great new music and some that I may have missed through it. However I feel that owning a record or CD gets me more invested into a record rather than dipping in and out and perhaps streaming music is a bit shit? Thoughts

Not sure if you guys follow the Hudson Valley Squares on YouTube but they did an episode last year on top 5 heavy albums ever and it got me thinking.
I'll go with
Sepultura - Beneath the Remains
Mourning Beloveth - Formless
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King
Primordial - The Gathering Wilderness

This is a thread I have contemplated starting a few times but getting round to it now that there is talk of a new Maiden album on the way. My own history with Maiden is mixed. I was an avid fan back in the mid 80s , went to the gig in the Point in 1990 and lost interest shortly after that.
Cut to about 2 years ago, young lad had to be educated in the ways of metal and we ended up listening to the Book of Souls one day and basically got hooked on all things Maiden again.
I was completely surprised and blown away by "Brave New World", " A Matter of Life and Death" and "The Book of Souls". The quality of the songwriting is fantastic and though no doubting it is Maiden it is worlds apart from their classic 80's sound.
Some may call it proggy and I get that but there is so much mire going on here. Songs such as "The Red and the Black" "Brave New World" "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg" "Ghost of the Navigator" "the Wicker Man" are easily as good as you'll hear. At 18 minutes "Empire of the Clouds" is a masterwork of epic propostions.
What say ye?

Metal Discussion / Black metal snatch album cover
October 24, 2020, 08:50:19 PM
Does anyone know the name of that black metal album with a woman's naked snatch on it. It may be a forest if you look closely. It was in a book about black metal in Tower records, I'm a bit obsessed with finding it. Like a beautiful snatch it was mesmerising.
