Quote from: Ducky on June 04, 2026, 02:37:23 PMI used to hate FIFA launch. Also hated the dickheads who'd buy only one or two games a year (usually FIFA and CoD) who'd throw a strop because we're giving them literal cents for their old FIFA. So we did a wee trick one year...

We took all the secondhand copies we had for the previous year's FIFA, piled made a neat pile (well, tower) of 360 and PS4 versions, then when anyone got pissy about why we were offering peanuts for the old one, we'd point to the stack of them and say "this is how many copies of it we already have and can't sell and we don't want more.

Fucking hate EA and their sports games. Every year they basically release the same game as the previous year, just with new rosters and designed to get morons pay for their Ultimate Team shit.
Yet the dickheads at Sensible have somehow still not managed to bring out a version of Sensi that was good as the original SWOS.

Cunts in Lidl, who, when their groceries come to €110, dump a bag of coins on the counter and say "Take it out of that". 10s and 20cent coins. Then when the checkout guy wearily says "That's only €77", the husband opens his wallet and takes out a €50 note.
Women behind me says to him, "You should have given their change back in those coins."

Fucking cunts.

I know. I suppose we need a "Cool and not-shit merch" thread at some point.

Quote from: Carnage on May 26, 2026, 04:58:50 PMI gave it a good spin again the other day while out & about, it holds up well I think. I wouldn't find any filler on it, even the lesser mentioned tracks like Losfer Words, Back In The Village, Flash Of The Blade etc. are class to my ears. Rime Of The Ancient Mariner is still massive, the best of their 'epic' songs by a long way.

Back in the Village is one of the best songs they've ever done.

But Somewhere in Time is my favourite.

West Ham fan?

Nope. Just wanted Spurs to go down. Admittedly, any other season I'd have been delighted to see West Ham go down.

RIP. 41 is no age. I was just watching him being interviewed last weekend, an absolute icon!

And after he won the truck race on Saturday, when asked about the win, he said "Because you never know when the last one is, you know?"
Crazy.

Quote from: Eoin McLove on May 19, 2026, 12:54:02 PMSome of the dire opening acts I witnessed during the 90s, supporting name bands, kind of both baffled me and gave me hope

Superskin!

Utter shit. Almost as bad as Swampshack. Body Count in 94, I think it was, UK and Europe had Carcass supporting, Ireland got Swampshack. And everyone hated them, I remember the bass player challenging a bunch of hecklers to a fight. Last I heard of them they were playing in a pub in Monaghan underneath Thorn's flat. Poor bastard.
Some other bunch, could have been Paranoia, supporting Anthrax, and when their set ended, silence. The drummer threw his sticks into the crowd, and everyone could hear them hit the ground, and bounce all the way down the back, nobody even bothering to pick them up.

And a bit later Sweet Savage seemed to get so many support slots. Heaven and Hell pull out of Maiden, considering the ticket price for the two bands, does MCD replace then with a band of similar stature? Nah, call in Sweet Savage, and pocket the money Dio and Co would have made.

Sweet Savage, Superskin, Swamp Shack. Guess it's a pretty good guide if your band is named S___S___, you're going to be shit, right?

It'll make it easier to photoshop him out for other promo stuff like they did with Dan Spitz when Ozzy died.

A line up now featuring folk from Megadeth, Vicious Rumors and Flotsam and Jetsam could hardly fail and indeed this is the best Metal Church album in years.

Best album Ellefson's been involved with in well over thirty years, too.
