The American Friend (1977)

Decided to pursue our Ripley buzz by checking out some of the other adaptations of Ripley novels which had passed us by. I'm not a huge Wim Wenders fan by any stretch, but did enjoy this.

Self-contradicting speech acts ftw - he should have said nothing.

One for the geeks:

Sound, will def give that a watch, remember digging it (woop woop!) when it first came out.

It's definitely and intentionally slow, but if you can wind down into its vibe that becomes a strong point.

A sickening story, made all the more so by being embedded in stats that show how common stories just like it are:

Loads of good content in the Led Zep doc, which I saw in the cinema, but easily as much omitted as included... notably absent was all seediness (a word I choose to underline why it was left out). It also, as a doc, felt a bit pedestrian to me. But lots of great to see/hear content for sure.

This definitely puts the kibosh on Abaddon Incarnate's chances of having a statue of them erected outside Bruxelles.

Enjoying the grand shortening this year more than I've ever enjoyed a grand stretch tbh  It was actually cold when I went outside for me smoke last night!

It was as much Steve. On here/MI it was only Steve. And he's sheltered from the fallout now. The lads will prob have to deal with it another few times over the next few years until they pack it in. Which is ironic. That's all I was saying. The world turns.

I think, once again, what makes it most ironic is that episode where Abaddon made a big hoo-ha about not wanting to play with a BDSM-theatrics group. That was fucking years ago now, but as I said at the time, the only avenue that would allow them to even attempt to take that kind of moral high ground with respect to anyone else would be to drop the Abaddon Incarnate band name and disown things like the Vermithrax lyrics and 'Soundtrack to Rape' t-shirts. But since then, irony of ironies, Steve (who I presume wrote the Vermithrax lyrics..?) has indeed left AI and so can himself easier distance himself from that legacy than Bill and the lads can!

Nicolas Cage says he's "probably not" working with Amazon again after refusing to sign AI waiver for "Spider-Noir": 'I am not an AI-friendly actor'

Megaton Sword - Might & Power

What I wouldn't give to see these lads live (and a place convenient to me)

And your ears..?
