I would've thought the promoter incurs the lions share of the loss but that  it would depend on the dynamics of a particular tour. And upon the flat fee guarantee that an artist is assured of as well as how that relates to the overall ticket sales. Forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong, I'm certainly no expert and not pretending to be!

Quote from: Megalodon on November 24, 2022, 08:39:13 PMIt was pretty good numbers wise though no? A-G seating was practically sold out (top tiers closed off) and standing was grand in the config amended to, more at it than the AA/MH gig for comparison. That's a rather decent return for a band of this kind in Ireland I'd have thought I expected less tbh. They could have got more money off me as merch was quite good but 45 yoyo a t-shirt, nah soz.

Really baffled as to how you can maintain they took a hit from it tbh but okay.

Ah yeah, I agree. Turnout was much better than I expected also. It's in no way baffling considering even bigger bands have to do very good numbers on basically every date of a tour just to come remotely close to breaking even on it. No band is immune to this.

Quote from: Pagan Saviour on November 24, 2022, 06:20:22 AMHow was it numbers wise?

Was concerned when I arrived as to what the atmosphere would be like because a fairly sizeable section of the arena was cornered off as well as some of the seating. Hadn't seen it like that since I saw Bad Company there years ago. Despite it being far from a sellout my concerns regarding the atmosphere were completely unfounded because there was a great buzz altogether, and the band were absolutely fantastic.

I also must say full credit to them for coming to play here because they undoubtedly took a bit of a financial knock by doing so and I'm sure other bands would've seen fit to cancel the show given the circumstances. I was massively impressed with Floor too. To be putting in performances like that after just getting a clean bill of health recently is astonishing.

Although it would make little sense for them to come back again financially or  logistically when they do so well elsewhere, I hope they do come back again soon. Fantastic show and lovely vibe in the audience. Delighted to have made it.

Not sure why the supports have been axed. For those unaware, doors are now 6, Nightwish are due on at 8, due to finish at 10.

Regarding the abbreviated setlist, I imagine that is due to Floor recuperating. As well as dropping three songs, I notice they've included "Harvest" and made "How's the Heart?" an acoustic rendition, presumably with the aim of giving her a breather. I'm just delighted and relieved that she is in good health and excited that the show is going ahead at all. Early finish suits me travelling back to Cork anyway!

For those unsure, Amorphis are no longer supporting Nightwish . Supports for their show are now Beast In Black and Turmion Kaetiloet. Amorphis are however playing the Academy the night before with Eluveitie, Dark Tranquillity and Nailed to Obscurity.

Floor from Nightwish was diagnosed with cancer just a few weeks ago and had surgery to remove it. All apparently went well and they are acting as if the shows are still going ahead as of now. First show of the Nightwish tour is less than a week away so I think they would've postponed by now if they were going to. Still don't think they should be rushing into shows after something so serious but I'll be there to support if they do.

Excellent gig last night. All three bands had eluded me so I was thrilled to finally see them.

Crowbar's set was brilliant. "All I had I gave" was outrageous and finally getting to hear "Planets Collide" live was amazing. Myself and the brother got a photo with Kirk after the show too. Such a sound lad.

Sacred Reich were absolutely fantastic. Played so cleanly and tightly. Last few tunes had the place rocking.

Sepultura absolutely levelled the place. Great to hear the Quadra stuff live. "Agony of Defeat" in particular sounded massive. I could rant and rave about the whole set but the Chaos AD stuff in particular crushed. Derrick is an absolute force live. Perfect set front to back.

Only thing I could fault about the show at all was the muppet with the braid who got turfed out by security after annoying everybody, other than that great night.

Cheers to H and everyone involved.
Next up for me is God Alone in Cyprus Avenue in Cork.

Not able to hit this myself but highly recommend seeing them to anyone who hasn't. Caught them in London a few years back and they were excellent.

Volbeat not my cup of tea whatsoever but the idea of seeing Napalm Death in the 3arena is pretty cool to me.

Both outstanding as well!

First time getting to see Tool live. The Pot, The Grudge and Invincible were the highlights for me. Phone ban was refreshing out and finally getting to see Danny Carey do his thing live was unreal! Amazing show. Suffering today.

Unbelievable show in Cork tonight. First gig for me since Testament in March '20. Delighted to say it was brilliant. Good turnout given a Tuesday and the bank holiday coming up too.
